I've never seen or heard of it. My gosh, it is quite astonishing that
the lion actually recognizes them and seems SOOOOOOOO happy! I don't
think it's a fake video. It doesn't look it. Pretty amazing.

I love that scene!  The video's real - it's Christian the lion:

The video may be real, but I don't think the circumstances are properly
stated.  If they raised a lion for a year and released it then went back
after a year, it would be at least two years old.  I'm pretty sure the male
lion in the video is much younger than that.  Also the female lion that was
supposedly totally wild?  He is petting her?  I don't think so.

It's cute but dangerous.  You never know what a wild animal will do.

True.  Look at Siegfried & Roy.

OTOH, the affection the lion feels for the people is obvious.  The way he
rubs his face up against theirs is so like a much smaller cat.

That's a scene from a film called "Christian the Lion," and it's a real
tearjerker.  Christian was a lion cub born in a zoo, and put on display in
Harrods.  These two young guys who owned a Chelsea antiques shop fell in
love with him and were sure they could give him a better life, and they
bought him.  Christian was always a big love, and became quite the man about
London, but of course as he got bigger and bigger, things became impossible.

The actors who made the "Born Free" movies heard about Christian, and put
his people in touch with George Adamson, the lion expert who had
rehabilitated Elsa and other "domesticated" lions.  Christian, with the help
of Adamson and some of his other lions, was eventually released into the
wild, where he lived successfully with a wild pride for awhile, but
disappeared after a couple of years.  It's a hard life out there.

There's no denying, though, that reunion scene is incredibly moving.
