I hear you Victor.  I think it's time to pay another tribute to
him.....

I remember Dave.  I even have some of his stories saved on my
computer.  He had a real gift with words and a great sense of humor. I
have no doubt that he is remembered by far more people than he ever
imagined.

Google probably has all of the stories in their archive.

Oh Debra in VA, I'm soooo pleased to hear that you have some of Dave's
wonderful stories saved.  How about re-posting some of them as a
tribute to our wonderful departed friend?

Check out Flippy's web site (www.flippyscatpage.com).  I think she's got
all of 'em.  Don't have time to track them down, but maybe Flippy will
provide a Yehudah link.  Great reading, but an implied BW on almost
every one!

Thanks for the link.  I have never read any of his stories.  They are now
bookmarked and I look forward to reading all of them   MLB

I'm sure that at least 10 people have already sent the link, but why
not be one more.  Dave was one of the most special people I've ever
met.  I don't think I'll ever miss him and he is definitely one of the
people I want to meet up with again in the afterlife.

How could I forget him?  He wrote such funny stuff.

I was one of the privileged few to meet him in person.  He was such a lovely
man, and Patty is a sweetheart.  Of course she'd have to be, if he played
even half the tricks on her that he told us about.  ;-)

from Patty?  Hope she is doing alright.  If you are able to get in
touch with her, tell her we all send our love.

Yes, I feel very lucky.  Actually, I've met all three Daves.  I still see an
occasional post from David Stevenson in England, but I haven't heard
anything from Dave Gerecke in Australia in ages.

Unfortunately, I lost touch with Patty some time ago.

Dave & Dot Gerecke are still around. Dave retired from the Ambulance
service, and they have another cocolate labrador puppy, IIRC. I am in
occasional phone & e-mail contact with them.

Patty Yehudah re-married and became Mrs Miguel Laura (IIRC). I haven't heard
from her in a while, though.

Do you remember the story when he silently farted in bed then shouted,
mouse, and Patty dived under the covers. If that was true and I believed
every word Dave wrote ;-) I bet he had a few bruises that day.

Lovely.

I'll never forget his story about taking Patty on a snipe hunt.  He
got her out in the swamps (IIRC) blundered around, lost her, got lost,
finally made it back to the car and found her sitting clean and dry in
the front seat waiting for him.  I still laugh so hard I cry when I
think about that one.

I never got to meet Patty, though Dave brought her brother with him
when we met in Flaggstaff Arizona in 2004.  We spent the whole
afternoon telling stories, with me drinking diet Coke and them
drinking beer.  It was a no no for him, but Dave lived life on his own
terms and was damned if anyone was going to make him live their way.
I really think Patty was the only person who could influence him, and
I'm sure that she had a rough time of it.  Dave was wickedly funny and
some of his stories about school pranks were priceless.  I wish I
could remember them properly.

He had enough health problems to turn many people into embittered invalids.
I think he decided that he probably wasn't going to live a long life, so he
was darned well going to enjoy himself for however long he had.  He did a
pretty good job of that, and also provided a lot of pleasure for a lot of
other people in the process.

Sums up _my_ take on life pretty nicely. One reason more to hope DY in
on the Rainbow bridge having fun with all the beasties.

Dave's sadly missed by many of us. I often think of his phrase, hairy varmit
critters.

I miss him.  He was a very funny man with an ability to listen to
stories as well as tell them.  Which is a rare commody in this world.
Every month or so I look up his stories on either Dave Stevenson's cat
pages or Flippy's cat pages.  They are guarenteed to make me feel
better when it seems like life is kicking me in the face.

I thought I posted this one already, but it doesn\'t appear to be showing
up on talkaboutpets.com or google groups\' rendering of RPCA. So forgive me
if there ends up being a duplicate post, of sorts, but I\'m going to share
it again. (But this time I\'ve even got the link to the thread in question,
so this post will go one better than the missing one. ;o) )

Something must be in the air, because I thought of Dave Y a day or two
ago. Specifically, I thought of the thread where he described drawing
Groucho Marx on himself in magic marker, cigar included (so to speak, LOL)
then scaring Patty and (unexpectedly) his brother-in-law to death when he
put said, er, artwork on display.

Then, as he\'d recently been released from the hospital, he decided he\'d
rather wash said drawings off than risk a possible trip to the ER with
Groucho Marx still drawn on him... only to find out, the hard way, that the
ink was far from easy to remove.

I remember reading that story at the time and laughing so hard, I nearly
hurt myself. So much so that just REMEMBERING the story was enough to make
me start laughing again.

So I looked through google groups and found the thread. Here it is, still
as hilarious as ever:

Last we heard from TJ was quite a while back. She was doing fine, IIRC.

A very late response here, but oh, yes.  He wrote the funniest stories
that would have me laughing so hard it would hurt!

I was lucky enough to meet he and Patty when they stopped off in Ohio a
few years ago.  Both he and Patty were absolutely delightful.  I have a
brief clip of them on video somewhere, and I will try to post it
somewhere -- if I can figure out how.

Anyone know how Patty is doing?

Sslut, David.  You are missed.
