Fair use excerpt:
63 kittens dumped in front of Mount Vernon shelter
By DESIREE GRAND
THE JOURNAL NEWS
(Original publication: August 9, 2007)
MOUNT VERNON -The three boxes left in front of the Mount Vernon Animal
Shelter didn't contain a gift for the already filled-to-capacity shelter.
Instead the boxes were filled to the brim with kittens, 63 in all, heaped on
top of each other and covered in fleas.
The kittens, of various ages and breeds, were most likely being used as bait
to prepare dogs to fight, said Paula Young, the shelter's director.
"I'm thinking somewhere in the city there is a pitbull fighting ring," said
Young, who found the boxes late Tuesday. "It is impossible for one person to
have all these kittens, calicos, tabbies, males and females."
Her suspicions come on the heels of last week's discovery of an older,
abandoned pit bull named Floyd, who was critically injured from what
officials believe was the result of dog fighting. That same day, 11 kittens
were stolen from the shelter. Some of those kittens were returned in the
boxes.
(my editorial comment - find the fscker and carve them a new assh*le with a
chainsaw)

I'm right with ya! I'll even bring the gasoline if the chainsaw requires
it. Hmmm, come to think of it, let's douse them and set them on fire. How
can people be so cruel?! I just don't understand it.

I think a suitable punishment would be for them to be torn apart by
pitbulls.

Tempting but possibly too quick and rather unfair on the pitbulls...

Considering how cruel they can be to other humans, and the
fact that such low-lifes think of other animals as "things",
are you really surprised? (Angry and upset, yes - but
surprised?)

Angry yes upset yes surprised not in the least in rescue shelters or on
rescue teams you come across stuff like this all the time
Reminds me of a PETA incident where the people adopted the animals only to
euthanize them in the back of their van telling people after it was in the
animals best interest http://www.petakillsanimals.com/
Chainsaw is to quick
The Chinese have a torture called death of a thousand cuts I think it is
called. It uses the edge of paper. Add a little vinegar, a little salt,
some smelling salt to keep them awake during the whole things. I believe it
takes days up to weeks to do and days after to die if they let you. A
perfect way for these scumbags to die.

A Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel liberally applied to "declaw" and "neuter"
them.

They have to catch them first. And while we're at it, fighting dogs isn't
exactly the activity of nice people. Both dogs get hurt in the process.
Who thinks this sort of thing is a "sport"? A$$holes, that's who. Used to
be cock-fighting was the big thing. People put sharp metal spurs on
roosters' claws and set them loose to fight each other... to the death.
Some days I really don't like people. Cats have attitude but they are never
(okay, rarely) blatantly cruel.

Would you believe that cock fighting is still legal in Louisiana??!

Wouldn't really surprise me. Mississippi didn't adopt the 13th Amendment to
the Constitution, the one that abolished slavery, until 1995. Obviously no
one was still practicing it (unless you call minimum wage slavery, heheh).

Whatever two guys want to do in the privacy of their own bedroom is their
own business.
Oh, you meant *roosters*.

I remember that from when the issue finally got on the ballot here. At
the time, there were three
states in the Union where it was still legal--Okla., La., and was it
Arkansas or Arizona?
I have *never* understood the mentality of anyone who enjoys *any*
kind of blood sport--one where
an animal dies as part of the entertainment. Whether it be
dogfighting, cockfighting, bullfighting, hare coursing,
etc...etc...etc....I understand in other countries there's even horse
fighting.

When I was the original pony mad kid I used to go drag hunting and
enjoy it. When the Countryside Alliance over here started talking
about how if the government banned fox hunting, all these horses and
dogs would be put down I was waiting for someone to suggest why not
drag hunt? Then one of their spokespeople said it wasn't the same as
the real thing and I thought "All you've just proven is you don't give
a damn about the rights of the horses and the dogs and the "rural way
of life" what you really want is the right to enjoy harming animals"
