A cyberfriend's parents bought a 1 year old blue. He was outgoing and
friendly at the breeders. They got him home and he escaped to the
garage where he hid for 2 days (came out at night for food). They
dismantled the garage, found him and put him in his own room with all
the accompaniments. He disappeared. While looking, he apparently
escaped to the garage again. We suggested all kinds of things. She even
has a picture of her dad with a box of Kentucky Fried Chicken, blowing
the scent into the last nook he saw the cat peek out of. Well, finally,
they got him back int he bathroom, found the hole he had hidden in and
closed it up. He now is getting better about them and comes for pets
and things, but often goes and just sleeps in the open cupboard on
towels. They have decided to name him Phantom. I don't know why he
turned so skittish, but maybe he is just testing their training
capapbilities.
Oh hell. You have GOT to see this picture. I downloaded it so you can see.

Here is the Phantom himself, in a photo snapped the first night with a
camera they set to take pics every 10 minutes. Came out pretty good for
a stealth shot.

Most Russian Blues that I have had the honor to deal with all have been
very skittish but once they know you there is not getting rid of them.
But it sounds like a furball being a furball

Aww, purrs to Phantom to calm down. No one knows why Mir is so shy. She
disappears into her own personal black hole every time the doorbell
rings. Sometimes she hides when it's only me, coming home from work.
Since I've known her from birth, I know she has never been abused in any
way. She probably learned this behaviour from her mother, but Kira has
also been a pampered housecat since birth, so why is she so shy? No one
knows.

LOL! That looks a pretty well-trained slave already.

He is gorgeous, though in that lighting, he looks more like an Aby than
a Blue.

Oh, he's pretty! He looks very alarmed - maybe from the sound of the
camera? I assume it wasn't flashing every 10 minutes - that would
definitely unnerve to poor boy.

He is beautiful and looks Siamese to me. He feels nervous in a strange
place. Given time and attention, he will probably adjust to his new home.
Best wishes . MLB

Indeed. Smokey has passed for a Russian Blue to several people who
have seen pix of him taken from angles that hide his white patches.
And that boy is much leaner in the face than Smokey.

He sounds like he'll eventually settle in well, with such doting
slaves. Purrs that it happens soon.

Would work for my dudes. But then again, they're not the hiding types.
