Hi

I am so sorry to read about the heartbreak you are living through
with Tayla and the effect she is having on your household.

Unlike many in this group, I do believe that cats have
personalities of their own and that some have behavior issues
that just can't be changed.  I support your decision that this
one cat is disrupting things in your home too much for the other
cats to be able to be happy living with her, and it's only fair
to the rest of the cats that you take her back and let her have a
chance to be adopted by someone who only wants one cat and won't
have to deal with the problems this cat is causing for you.  And
since it's a no-kill shelter, I'm sure they'll strive to find her
the right environment to suit her needs.

not only are all the other cats in your home stressed but you are
stressed too!  I don't think Tayla will change her ways, and even
if the other cats get used to her, they'll never be quite
comfortable relaxing with her around, not knowing when she's
going to decide to assert her authority and chase them off.  Not
to mention that she's doing herself no favor by eating all the
other cat's food!

Do yourself a favor and take her back -- today!  you have tried
very hard to make this work, but some things are just not meant
to be.

good luck

Thanks Sara!

I think as sad as it is, and as hard as it is for me to admit defeat, that
the best solution is to give Tayla back to be adopted by someone with no
other animals in the house.  I talked to the owner of Sunmart and she
absolutely agreed with me that this wasn't a good placement for Tayla.  She
did ask that I keep her until this weekend so they have time to arrange for
one of their fosterers to take her.  Ben and I have already vetted her so
she won't need any more medical attention for a year, but we're also
planning on donating enough to the shelter to pay for her board until they
can adopt her into an "only cat" household.  I will miss her, she is such a
sweet cat when she's with only me or Ben, but I will be glad to get my Sammy
back to normal.  I'm just afraid I have already broken her trust in me - I
*SO* hope I haven't damaged our relationship beyond repair.

Hugs,

It's NOT defeat, not at all - it just wasn't meant to be. Don't think of
it that way.

Thank you!  I just really feel so bad about this - I so wanted to rescue
that sweet little girl and I do feel like I failed her.  Since I know the
owner of Sunmart, I will be able to keep track of what happens to Tayla, and
I will feel so much better when she gets the home that was meant for her!

Thanks Adrian.  I'll certainly let everyone here know when Tayla does find
her foreverhome.  As pretty and as sweet as she is I have hopes that it
won't be long from now - she *WILL* make a *PERFECT* only cat.

And this is what I think every time someone tells me I need to get another
cat to keep Persia entertained.  She is the perfect only cat.  She would not
do well with another cat and I know it.  Please do keep us informed about
Tayla.  Purrs for Sammy to get back to her normal Sammy-ness ASAP.

That's because you did fail her. You forced them all together without
doing a proper introduction in the first place. Plus you only gave them a
short time to learn to live together. Then you thought of back tracking
and separating them to be reintroduced properly. You felt it wouldn't
work without even trying it. You gave up on her without even trying.
Nothing you can say can refute that fact. So yes by all means take her
back, as Tayla will no doubt get a better home than yours ever was
shortly. Oh, perhaps take the kittens back while you at it I don't think
your fit to care for them either. You are such a joke.

no, R, you are the joke, and a pretty sick one.   No need to be
so cruel to someone who is already having her heart broken.

If you have so little respect for the people of this newsgroup, why
do you hang around here? Is it because you're unable to get any friends
you *do* respect, and are stuck hanging out with people you consider
losers? Must suck to be you.

Who is he? I think I lost something in the translation.

MLB, not to be picky but I guess I'm feeling a bit peevish -- it does a
person good to say what they think once in awhile. And if you're upset
with someone or disagree with them -- say why.

There are a lot of things in this world worth standing up for and being
passionate about, but there are going to be people just as passionate as
you on the other side of the fence. That doesn't make them horrible
people. Even though I don't agree with the time-frame of the decision
about returning Tayla, I don't think CN is a horrible person.

There's no need to be frightened of people with other views and no need
for people to feel like they can't give their own honest opinion because
they're afraid it doesn't sound like a group hug.

A "group hug" is one extreme. A mean, judgemental diatribe is the opposite
extreme. There's a vast expanse in between, of possible ways for human
beings to speak to one another.

So when someone acts like a total *ssh*le and then gets criticized for
it, it's disingenuous to say, "You can't deal with anything that's not a
group hug", because we all know that there are many, many ways to express
one's honest opinion and still be sensitive and respectful.

Joyce
Rhonda - 27 Jul 2007 06:01 GMT
I think I missed the diatribe but saw a snide comment about people now
going to jump in. Now I'm too tired to go back and look up the post.

You're right, if there was a mean, judgmental diatribe then any
come-backs are fair game. I saw MLB's comment about people ignoring
someone else from another group and didn't know if that was "R."

Who is "R"? Oh well, it doesn't really matter.

C'nipped Jill's right some cats are only cats. Spicey would never
forgive me. Unfortunately you can't always figure this out until you
bring him/her home.

As for the rest of the group, I'm disappointed it you. We get a rude
post and no one posts a recipe.

Just for you my dear! :)

Victor's easy roasted salsa

Fresh, ripe tomatoes, about 1 lb
Fresh, ripe peppers (last time I used regular and "blonde" jalapenos),
about 1/2 lb, but to taste, of course
Half a head of garlic, unpeeled

On a hot grill (or a hot oven, even a skillet will do), roast the
ingredients until well charred on all sides. Peel the garlic cloves.
Blend all in food processor, until chunky. Add sea salt to taste.

YUM!!!

Oh dear.  I fell down on the job!

Crab Puffs

8 oz. cream cheese, softened
3 dashes hot pepper sauce (or to taste)
dash of salt
1 c. flaked crabmeat
1 small spring onion, minced
1 egg beaten with 1 Tbs. cold water
1 pkg. wonton wrappers

Blend all ingredients except egg wash and wonton wrappers. Place 1-1/2 tsp.
filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold over into a triangle
shape and then fold again.  Brush with egg wash.  Deep fry in hot fat until
golden brown.  Remove with a slotted strainer and drain on brown paper.
Serve with dipping sauce if desired - soy sauce, teriyaki, chili-garlic
sauce.  I prefer mine unadulterated :)

Someone went on and on about "you're not fit to have pets", and other
garbage. I have KF'ed that poster so I don't have to remember who
it was. :)

Has nothing to do with fear of differing opinions.  I've never seen a post
by this 'R' person before, unless it was a couple of years back after people
from other cat ngs invading this one with a bunch of crap posts.  A lot of
people have successfully integrated new cats without a separation period.  A
lot of people do the separation and gradual introduction thing and it still
doesn't work.  This post from 'R' was just another rude jab at CN from a
non-regular poster to this ng and I, for one, resented it.

R has posted here a couple of times.  And appears to be one of several
alias's (sp)

Same poster seems to be in some of the food groups, etc.

Also posted I believe as John Hancock.

I remember that pr@ck.  No matter what just kill file the a@@hole and move

It's not defeat sweety, and it's not your fault - you did everything
you could to help her integrate, but. Tayla just can't handle being
around other cats, and you don't have a big enough house to keep her
isolated forever (nor would it be fair to her to try!) She's meant to
be an only cat and that's all there is to it... next time the shelter
will know to put a warning on her sign that she can't go to a house
with other felines. I'm sure the others will adjust again very quickly
once she's gone - when we first got Tessie, Scouty and Silver were in
a real state about her being in the same house and taking away their
meowmie's attention, and when she went out the door to the animal
shelter, you could almost see them breathe a sigh of relief! (of
course, little did they know that she'd be coming back again five days
later! lol)
