To my great distress I have discovered that my cats are learning magic
from the Harry Potter books and here are their favourite spells:
Kumani:
Roly-Polyjuice Potion
One sip causes the drinker to flop over on his/her side and writhe
until an upside-downy-head is produced. Excessive consumption can
cause dizziness and vertigo as your head will stay upside-down for
hours.
Couchiatus Curse
The uneducated believe this spell simply provides the cat with access
to the interiors of furniture; however, it is pernicious in that it
also makes the cat difficult to find while inside, and impossible to
evict.
Tyche:
Bittybeer Nowowow
A spell which makes the listener believe that it is appropriate to
give kittens liquor.
Precious Hex
A particularly insidious form of magic in which the cat forces humans
to do its will by employing extreme cuteness. While the Precious Hex
tends to lose effect as the cat ages, use of "Perpetua Juvenilia" can
extend the effect--as long as the cat continues to /act/ like a
kitten, the spell remains in force.
Smokey:
Pokeweed
A magical herb that causes those around it to lose all motivation to
do /anything/. Under the influence of Pokeweed it is entirely
possible to lay around for hours, wholly awake, but too lazy to even
blink.
Canlid Leviosa
A charm that, when spoken, causes the top of every can in earshot to
rise six inches into the air, revealing the delicious contents.
Knockturn....er, Nocturne:
Poised to become the most fearsome Dark witch of her age, Nox provides
the following:
Drippin Charm
Manipulates the minds of others (vets, houseguests) into believing
that the feline sorcerer is, in fact, a good kitty, and deserving of
treats.
Avada Bedavra
A curse in which the victim is compelled to climb into the bed at ONCE
and place their head beneath the spellcaster's belly. It retains
effect until the caster chooses to lift it. While some people find a
cat on their head more pleasant than others, and might not mind in
principal, victims must hope that the spellcasting cat will release
them so they can perform such tasks as eating, going to work, and
using the bathroom.

Wingardium Leviosa, when said by a cat, causes all winged creatures
within earshot to gravitate toward the cat. Scalardium Swimiosa, of
course, brings all finned creatures toward the cat. (Your less finely
tuned ear may only hear the chattering of teeth as the cat says the
spell.)

I actually watched Spicey do this one. I thought she'd meowed the bug
into submission, but now realize it was probably magic.

Feather (RB) really wanted to use Wingardum Leviosa but all the birds
were outdoors. I think he used it on bugs but more for practice.
Rodentum Runeosa was his specialty and mouse his favorite treat.
Fortunately, his human uncle, moi, lived in a mouse-infested building
for the first five years of his life. Yummy.
Wootoo uses a spell that repels all life forms except her Uncle Bill.
When that doesn't work, she is very good at "I'm Not HERE," which is
from the spellbook of a roleplaying game.

Satisfying. The previous six books come together very well. No cheap
cop outs.
I enjoyed it. :)

ACK! Now I really can't wait to get my hands on it (Ben is working today
and had to take my truck (and we're not young enough to hang out at Barnes
and Noble at midnight!!) ;>

Am near the end of the book. I stayed up all night reading,
every time I tried to find a place to stop, I found myself
reading on. No spoilers. The book ties up some major loose
ends, answers some questions that I had and aims to please. I
wish there would be another book, maybe the next generation type
thing, or a new series.

My old roomie and her sisters was at the bookstore at 12 am this
morning to get their copies.
She then sent me a text message: "Started reading at 7:30 am finished
at 5 pm with breaks in between, but HP is GOOD!!!'
I texted back. 'I got dibs next'
That was one issue when the roomie moved out. She took all the HP
books with her. *sigh*

Albacore Tuna hex
Will cause *all* tuna cans to open immediately without noticing of
hoomins.
I got my copy of HP7 this noon - but I will start reading not until it
is dark outside.
For me it`s just wonderful to have some cats cuddled around, lieing
(lying?) in bed and reading HP in the dark of the night. A open window
not to forget.
Best when it rains, too.<g>

Don't anybody DARE tell us what happens until I get mine! Or give big
warnings. (I pre-ordered from Amazon, and their purchase-tracking
said it was sent July 20 and will probably arrive between Aug. 1-8.
That's what I get for living in a non-English-speaking country.)
The Japanese bookstores did their thing by launching the fourth HP DVD
on July 20.

This is brilliant, Fil. You are a very talented writer, as I've said
before.

So! Now I know how I have been spell bound and enthralled for three
full years by a cat who's got the Precious charm! AND of course the
Perpetual Juvenilia. I'm onto you NOW, Nina!
I think I am also controlled by the Sedata Comfortabilia curse--the
victim chooses a comfy chair, and is immediately pinned there by a cat
who just wants a soft, comfortable place for a nap and a massage from
their slave!
And of course, there's the Accio Greebling spell at which every cat is
adept!
Funny list, Fil! =o)
