Anyone have any items they're entering in the fair? Liz & Dianna coerced me
into entering some of the stuff I've done into the open-class needle work
category(they have all the stuff, it's been tagged, and they will be setting
up all of it next week, since they are in charge of this-they aren't the
judges, but the organizers).
So - I decided to enter 7 things:
-set of 3 'ornaments' from the beyond cross stitch series from Victoria
Sampler (can enter up to six as a set)
-the Basic Bargello
-a tote bag I decorated with a free-bee chart, & some el-cheapo plastic
themed (to match the design) buttons from Michael's
-a punch needle design
-a pillow with a cross-stitch heart that is made up of cat themed designs
(pattern was from France, with all the -instructions in French), the only
seam is on the back, fabric was large, so I have it just wrapped around the
pillow form, with the top & bottom opening being just folded in and held
closed with cat-themed button
-a pillow that has on it a USA 'flag' design, that states in it "Land of the
free, because of the Brave"
(http://www.ericamichaels.com/becauseofthebrave.html) - The pillow does not
look like the one pictured, I made the pillow out of a blue denim-like
material, with a red-grey-ecru cording around it, and used red-white-blue
star buttons to hold the stichwork fabric to the pillow (the stitched fabric
is of a pale grey - it and the red stitching match the red & grey in the
cording).
-a cross-stitch and beaded 'pin' (this one is the only one not entered in
the needlework category - I got that one in the jewelry-making category)
-3 "Britty Kitty" designs, finished & hung in an unusual way
I was too busy finishing these things to take pictures of them (besides the
ones that are already on by Webshots page), so pictures will follow later.
Fair starts Saturday, June 21, and I will be there every day manning the
booth for the local Humane Association.

I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of all the blue ribbons you're
going to win. Good luck, your work is beautiful and will do well.

County fairs are fun. Can't wait to see the pics of your needlework.
Our Spring fair is in April, and the fall Fair is always in Aug. or
Sept. So we've got
a while. I thought about entering a quilt this year. The H.S. has
never had a booth there
before, but that's a good idea--it's a good audience to reach. Many of
the people
would be animal-lovers.

Good luck with your fair entries! It's been many, many years since I
entered anything in a county fair, but in the past, I have entered baked
goods, photographs and table settings. The baked goods garnered me some
ribbons; the others didn't, but it was still a fun experience.

No county fairs this time of year where I live. It's too darn hot! The
Mid-South Fair is in September (and it's still too hot). I haven't been to
it in at least 25 years. But good luck with your entries! :)
