I'm doing a scrapbooking challenge this month and trying to finish at
least one layout every day. Yesterday I did three! And since our cats
are our babies, I'm doing a lot of cat layouts, which brings this post
on-topic... My layout tally so far is eight layouts (in five days)
using twenty-one photos, five pages of which are cat photos. (If
you're not interested in the mechanics of the pages, just click on the
links to see the cute photos...)
Cat-boxing... This was a page-sketch challenge... and I stuck very
closely to the design. I cut out the rectangle of paper that was
hidden behind the photo mat and used the words from that bit on the
rest of the layout so it wouldn't be wasted...

I decided to make a page in matching colours... I've never stapled
ribbon before but it came out cute. A few of the title letters are
hard to read because they're shiny, but it's 'Lady of Leisure' and I
managed to use a different 'font' for every letter.

Cardstock-only layout. I decided to colour-block this one and it was
really fun to make... I didn't specially cut ANY of those
squares/triangles etc - I had a baggie of shapes left over from making
a rainbow border for a page swap, and I used a lot of them up on this
LO...

Cuddle time (layout with foam stamps) - I don't actually OWN any foam
stamps, so I improvised. I stuck two large foamy shapes back to back
and used them to stamp the flowers... then I cut myself a little foamy
teardrop-shaped leaf shape, and finished off with a round center to
the flowers. I almost never crop photos into shapes, but these were a
natural - the background was just a boring blank wall and it fitted
them onto the page better to crop around our outlines. (besides, that
way you can see more of the stamped background I went to all that
trouble to make!

How nice! I wish I had that type of talent. But then Barnabus would
only want to participate. Recently I decided I wanted to try my hand
at making jewelery. I brought out my beads one night to arrange into
a bracelet and Barnabus had the most fun knocking them off of the
tray. I finally put them away. The problem is that if I go into
another room and close the door then he'll scratch on the door and cry
for as long as I'm in there and ruin the door. Maybe I'll have to
make jewelery in my car :)

I used to do cross-stitch but I had to give it up because it was a
real cat-magnet! Scrapbooking seems to be more easily contained
because everything's boxed/bagged so the felines can't get at it
unless I get careless... I've got a box on my desk for one of the cats
to sit in and supervise me, and they pretty much leave my stuff alone
while I'm working. :)

I cross stitched until this little orange kitten came to the door and
asked if we had a bite to feed a starving baby. Still all would have
been well had DH not read and followed the rules for stray kittens.
Day 1. Thy shall live in the garage and be fed on the stoop
Day 2. I'm going to let him in to play with us.
Day 3. He's just sleeping on the couch with me, we played until we got
tired.
Day 4 - phone rings and I answer to DH asking "Could you maybe make
him a litterbox? It's almost November and he's cold. He'll sleep on
the floor.
Day 5 - He'll only sleep on the couch
Day 6 - Well its cold and he likes our electric blanket, he'll only
sleep on the bed when it gets cold.
Day 7 - I brought home a big teddy bear for a companion to little
Hobbes. It was my present to the two of us for wearing down daddy so
that he'd see our version of a properly adopted cat :)
