My old monitor was really on the way out yesterday, so last night I
bought a new one, a flat-panel. Today she was cuddling with me on
my desk, and then she got up to go to her usual spot atop the monitor.
She went to jump up, and noticed that something wasn't quite right. So
she got on the PC tower to take a better look. From there, she bent
down, sniffing the area behind the monitor, seemingly wondering where
her special bed had gone!

aw, this happened to Lily too. When I first got her I had the regular kind
of computer monitor so she could sit up on the top and look down at the
screen. Then, when I got a new flat monitor she lost her seat! She now
sits on top of the DVR which we call a 'kitty warmer'.

Yes, cats don't like the status quo to be disrupted. I rearranged my
bedroom the other day and moved the chest of drawers, aka Cherry's
bed. away from the head of my bed and to the other side of the room.
That night and for several nights running, she paced the room saying,
"Awww? Mouuuuw? Maaaaaaauuuu? Aaaaaaa!" until I finally took pity
on her and put her blanky on the top of the bookcase at the head of my
bed. The bookcase top is a lot smaller than the top of the drawers,
but she was quite happy and sleeps there now with her paws hanging
off.
Whatever you have now, Joyce, I'm sure the furballs will never
consider it to be a "real" computer. Maybe they can learn from Emma
and call it a tooth-scraper.

Oh I remember when the roomie moved out, and her bedroom was emptied.
She was around when the I 'acquired' all the kitties so they were used
to her.
And suddenly she was gone and so was all her stuff. Gone was her bed,
so no more sleeping or hiding spot. They all paced the room, sniffing
and looking and looking at me with a 'WTH?' look.
Then when I put in a large desk and made the room into my office, they
REALLY were confused and had to sniff every inch of everything,
Mischief likes to sleep on the monitor but not recently because of the
heat. No, she likes the crinkly sounds the papers on my desk makes
when she curls up onto them. That and pawing at the papers to
rearrange her 'spot' and in the process knocking my papers all behind
the desk.
sigh.........

I hope Roxy will learn to enjoy sitting on the PC tower. There's certainly
enough room up there for her to meatloaf, and even to curl up. It's not
all that warm up there, though.

Sarsi loves the PC tower (And so does Dunzi when she can get a look
in) she can curl up on it no problem and not even move the network hub
on top if it then again both my cats tend towards petite ~(I've had
someone tell me Dunzi MUST be at most 8 months old when she was 3
years old)
But she loves it best because it means she gets to lie next to Paw-
since he camr back from hospital she don't like to sit anywhere but
next to him

I have been instructed by the Furry masters not to get a flat screen
if I do they will not be able to watch Paw eating or jump onto the top
of the door

Dot says that a flat monitor is great! She likes to sleep behind the
monitor, where it's very toasty, and she can stealthily peek out from
underneath. Flat panels are like heated oriental folding screens, she
says.

Oooo, tell Dot I said thank you for the suggestion. I will try putting
Roxy back there to see if she likes it. I'll have to get all the wires
out of the way - not that she couldn't sleep on wires, some of the places
cats consider "comfortable" are mind-boggling - but she might find it
more appealing if I moved the wires and put down her towel. (This is the
one that I put on top of my old monitor, in a vain attempt to prevent
cat fur from falling into the vent - which I'm sure is what killed it.)
Joyce
PS - she just jumped onto my desk and she's back there now! Will report
on how she likes it.
