I've mentioned Benny, my great aunt's cat, several times before. He died
this morning aged 22. Only a week ago he was seen by a vet who said he was
doing well for his age, I don't know what tests, if any, were done.
Here are some pictures I took of Benny in 1985.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Benny.
No matter how long a kitty lives, it's not long enough.
I'm glad Benny didn't suffer, and wasn't sick, as this is not often the
case with a cat reaching his age.
He was a beautiful kitten. I love his coloring, and bushy tail.
He must have grown up into a very handsome cat, and wonderful gentleman
cat in his senior years,
Older cats are so neat; all they want is for you to love them...and they
return it, with interest!
I can't imagine having a cat for 22 years!
My Blizzard (RB) lived almost exactly 18 years. It wasn't long enough
for me....sniff.
Purrs for Benny, and your grieving Great Aunt. This must be so hard on
her.

You may have missed my previous posts about Benny, my great aunt got him
when she was 80, she died 2 years ago on the eve of her 100th birthday.
Benny had lived with her grandaughter for the last 7 years.

I'm sorry about your Great Aunt, as well.
I must have missed the post. And I'm very sorry that I did. Sometimes, I
just get behind, and miss some posts. My deepest apologies.
I'm glad she also had a long life. But not long enough, of course :-(

Adrian, I am so sorry about Benny. He was quite a handsome cat! I know
your aunt must
be devastated. It should be some comfort to her to remember that
living a *loved* life,
for 22 years, is a great privilege for a cat, one that is so rare. And
a privilege for us humans too.

away. My sympathies to you great aunt.

I am sorry to hear that Benny passed away today. 22 is a good age for a cat
to reach - although as Gandalf said, never long enough. If he was doing
well a week ago he obviously has not had a long illness to contend with
which is a blessing. Maybe it was just "his time."
My thoughts go out to his slaves.

What an adorable, fuzzy-wuzzy kitten! He looks like he must've grown
up to be a dignified cat.

Purrs for your great aunt - that's a long time to have a cat! Those are
great pictures. Just at "that awkward" adolescent age, when he's all gangly
legs, and full of feline attitude and entitlement. Looks like he was a
lot of fun and a great cat.
