Their birthday is Sunday. They'll be four weeks old! That's the day
I've decided to start weaning
them off the bottle and seriously start teaching litterbox etiquette.
The big one has started to "play",
but the little one just wants to crawl up in my hair and root around.
They have teeth now and their
ear canals are completely open, ears stand up, so they don't look so
much like aliens anymore. It's so
funny how they are showing distinct personalities. The little one
would be a great cat for someone
who wants a super-affectionate lap cat. He is really a mamas baby. He
has a peculiar shape though. He's
very potbellied and looks like a pear with legs. He's too tiny for his
age. He needs to be tested for worms
as soon as he's old enough. IIRC that's four weeks but I'll have to
check.
I dread weaning them. That's the stage where they get more food *on*
them than *in* them. It's easier to
handfeed, but I guess you can't have a grown cat still sucking food
out of a syringe.
I'll take some pics today. All in all, I'm very pleased with their
progress and they look healthy. I was sure
the biggest one was going to die at least twice. Barring some
unforseen illness, I think they're over the hump.

The terror that they are going to die or that somehow you will manage to
harm them is all part of the "charm" of hand rearing. I was always scared
that Skeezix wasn't getting enough to eat, but at the same time sure I was
going to drown him. But four weeks usually is the charm. If they are sound
at four weeks they are usually safe. And that's when they really start to
be fun too.

Yes, exactly! Did I feed them too much? Not enough? Are they pooping
too much? Not
enough? They *are* starting to be fun. They weren't fun at all up
until now. Newborns
make me too nervous. Even newborn babies, even my own.
