Bucky noticed that there was no rain this morning. So he dashed outside
when I fed the ferals.
I got home, and he was still out.
Then I heard several loud crashes of thunder. The rain was starting up
again. I went out to look for him.
We have several shrubs around the building. Holly bushes. With sharp and
pointy leaves. And the green ones make good rain cover.
So Bucky is making his way towards our door, under the bushes, crying
every few seconds. Especially when a new round of thunder booms. He sounds
very scared.
There I am, standing barefoot in the mud, in the rain, and trying to reach
into a healthy holly bush to comfort (and hopefully GRAB!) a distressed
Bucky.
Finally, I reach back and around and touch him. He flops down in the mud.
But I grab him, hold him close and shield him from the rain with my
shoulders. He is now screaming, and snuggling in, all at the same time.
Inside, he (and I) gets a good towelling, pets and skritches and kisses
and hugs. Which he *tolerates*.
He's eating now, while the other cats wait to hear his Hobbit's tale of
woe and adventure.
And he's purring. Poor baby.
Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

GOOD CAT SLAVE ;-)
A few of us were worried about you Mark since the storms are bad in your
area

Awww - poor boy. And if you hadn't rescued him in the first place he'd have
been out there all alone and scared every time a storm hit. What a good cat
slave you are.

He's the exact opposite of Caliban. We had a stormy day yesterday, with
high winds and pouring rain. Caliban just wanted to sit outside in the
enclosure and watch the wind tossing the shrubbery around and driving
the rain sideways. He is absolutely fascinated with storms.
The only exception was a thunderstorm recently, when the lightning must
have hit somewhere very near us, repeatedly, because the crash came
immediately after the blinding light and I've never heard thunder that
loud before. Even Caliban the stormcat couldn't quite take that.

Cali loves to sit in the open window and watch the rain, she doesn't even
mind getting wet. I think she likes the smell of the fresh rain.

Zak (RB) used to sit in his window watching the lighning and the rain; the
thunder never bothered him a bit. Even on July 4th with all the fireworks
it never bothered him. This will be the first 4th in 11 years he wont be
sitting in his window "ignoring" the noise.

Awwwww. Poor Bucky! Persia is the same way about storms. We had some
thunderstorms roll through yesterday afternoon and she immediately headed
off to the closet. It's her safe place when the weather gets noisy.
