Cute. That happens in our house with dropped grapes (which will, in
fact, turn in raisins when they get lost.)

...unless, of course, you happen to step on them. That's probably what I
would do!

Here, too. When we took our old refrigerator out, we found many
raisins the
cats had made. Plus a weird assortment of other things, toys, straws,
and the crumped foil balls I make and toss down in the kitchen.

I don't want to think about what may be behind my stove. A few years ago
when the maintenance guy had to replace the element in my stove he pulled it
out and we discovered practically an entire bag of Brachs butterscotch
candies. When Persia first came here she was totally fascinated by the bowl
of butterscotches I had. She liked to bat them around and would carry them
into the kitchen and play "hockey". There were so many butterscotch candies
back there I was embarrassed.

The other day when I was washing some blueberries, a few dropped on the
floor and rolled away. This was fascinating to Licky. Ooo, tiny rolling
things!
I've heard, btw, that grapes can be poisonous to dogs. I don't know
whether they're also bad for cats. Just FYI.

Here, the favourite toy of the day is an empty pea pod. ;)

And we actually buy cat toys ;-)
This got me thinking about the favorite toys here. Among the top
choices
are: foil balls, styrofoam peanuts, any sewing supplies that are
currently
being used, straws, grapes, bugs that have the misfortune of making
it inside the house.
Other than that, the only things they really play with are the Turbo
scratcher
and the feather wand.
I was digging around for some hand-me-down toys for the orphan kittens
(I think they'll
need toys in about a week) , and we really
didn't have any!

Remember www.kalyx.com they now have 239 cheap cat toys available.

My cats never play. All toys are ignored. I worry a bit that they are not
enjoying themselves. Maybe outside is enough and catching a little rattie
is enough playtime for Boyfie?
KFC is probably too old to care about playing now, all she wants is a comfy
bed, a quiet life, nice food and the occasional prey that Boyfie brings her
to eat to remind her that once she was a famous hunter. She's eaten up all
the rattie he brought earlier this evening ;-)

Ours have little interest in toys as long as the weather outside it OK. A
week of rain and they start hunting for all the "lost" toys.
I remember when we got Molly. She wasn't allowed out for the first two
weeks. We didn't know we had so many cat toys! She hunted down everything
Jake had hidden. Especially the things Jake couldn't get to since he is
much "fluffier" than she is.

I think that's probably what it is. I mean, think about it - play is
just a way to exercise predatory instincts and skills. If a cat gets to
hunt for real, they don't really need to play at it. Smudge doesn't play
that much either, but my other two (indoor-only) are maniacs.
