Last month I got "Star Wars: Republic Commando" for the PC, the game
which inspired Karen Traviss' excellent series of novels (highly
recommended for anyone who likes military sci-fi, no matter if you
consider yourself a "Star Wars" fan or not.)  Anyway, in the game you
play the leader of Delta Squad and you have three guys who do what you
say.

I've been playing it and here's a typical encounter.

ADVISOR (in game):  Delta Squad, proceed to the lower level!
*A grey, furry thing flickers in my field of vision.*
SEV (in game):  When do I get to kill something?
*In real life, Smokey mrrps, "when do I get to eat something?"  He
taps at the keyboard with a paw.  Boss (my guy) promptly runs into a
wall.  Smokey then wanders across my hands.*
FI (in game):  We've got mercenaries!
*Which I cannot see as my entire view is fur.  However, I can hear
gunfire and my squad grunting/yelling in pain*
FIXER (in game):  I need a medic.
*I try to peer over Smokey's back to find my injured guy.  A wet nose
is thrust into my neck.*
FI:  Boss, behind you!
*Gunfire.  I grab Smokey, put him on my lap.  I look at the
screen....*
ADVISOR:  I think we just lost Delta Squad *screen shows my helmet all
cracked and some stupid droid standing over my bullet riddled corpse*
SEV:  You stink, sir.

Shut it, Sev.  My cat is in league with the Separatists.  It's not my
fault.

And to think Smokey used to be Air Force.
