It was a long weekend, and I couldn't go to the island with the cats for
Midsummer this year, but my niece kindly invited me over on Saturday for
one of her lovely meals (for all of you who have drooled over her food
photography - it tastes as good as it looks!).
Besides my nephew who was also visiting, we had company of her three
cats - Miranda's mother Kira, brother Emil and distant uncle Kasper. As
usual, Emil was the friendliest. He came over immediately and weaved
about my legs and arched his back for scritches. He loves to have his
back scritched just in front of his tail, He turns his long tail into a
corkscrew, and after sufficient scritching, flops over on his side and
shows you his tummy. By the end of my visit, I think I must have gone
through this exercise at least 100 times.
Kasper was a little slower to come out and greet me, and I think he
pretty much expected me to give him treats all the time I was there.
Well, that's a perfectly reasonable expectation for such a hunky big
gorgeous boycat, isn't it? All I gave him was scritches, though. My
niece gave him the treats he was after.
Kira was the last to come and greet me, but she was surprisingly
untimid. She hadn't hid when the doorbell rang, like she usually does.
They have partially netted their balcony for the cats to hang out on it,
and she just kept on sleeping there, on a chair in the sun. Maybe she's
finally learned that Auntie Mima is nothing to be afraid of.
When I got home Caliban and Mir gave my hands a very thorough
going-over. I told Mir that the smells were greetings from her
relatives. She didn't seem very impressed. ;)
