Jake is doing fine for a cat with stitches across his nether region and a
f#$& damn collar around his face. He is most unhappy. Can't get
comfortable. Feels he is losing all his street cred by knocking things
over, spilling water, jumping and missing, and being held down to take the
awful medicine.
He could really use some "take it easy" purrs.

Take it easy, Jake. That collar will come off as soon as you heal up
enough.

Well, he should be fairly happy this evening. Thank you all for the purrs.
And to the evil cats among you who sent him various ideas for bastard cat
tricks. He has had us going pretty much all day. Tucked away in his various
hidey holes till we are sure he's got out. Off to buy a flashlight, only to
come home and find him crunching cat chow. Can barely walk so we let him
come out back with supervision. Blink and he's over the fence. Still
huddling and acting miserable so Charlie feels sorry for him and lets him
come out front with us. Next thing you know he's across the street and
under the neighbors car.
A broom took care of that. He's back inside. He can stay in his hidey hole
for all I care. (At least till he needs his medicine again)
This outside business please note is not my preference. Charlie has the
softest heart in the world. And I think sometimes a soft head to go with
it. But he has as much right to decide what is OK for the cats as I do.
There is still medication and wound care for me to deal with before bedtime.

Purrs ongoing. How long will he have to wear the collar?

Two weeks. The wound is really in a bad spot if it doesn't heal right off.
He hasn't had the collar off since the first time. I think the gauze they
tied it with had stretched out. I'll take it off tomorrow for a few
minutes, under supervision to make sure nothing is rubbing raw or anything
like that.
But he does seem to be adjusting to it now, and not fighting it or letting
it stop what he wants to do.
He will probably continue to spill his water the whole time he wears it if
only out of spite.
