A woman on my neighborhood's email list posted this morning that she'd
rescued a kitten from a group of teenage boys who were playing mean
games with him. She took him home, got him warm and dry (they were
dunking him in a river! :( ), and now has him at her place while she
looks for a home for him. She says 3 people from our neighborhood group
have expressed interest, so his future looks good. Here are two photos
she sent of him. What a cutie! Check out the PAWS. And the ATTITUDE.

I'd like to take the @$$holes and find some good place to "dunk" them.
Bless your friend for stepping in.

No kidding! This was a disturbing story. I am so glad this woman
happened to be nearby and put a stop to it. (Unfortunately, she is
not a friend - at least, not yet. She's just someone on my neighborhood
email list. Perhaps she *should* be a friend!)

But I'd like to know what will be done to teach those boys what a
terrible thing they've done.

I'm sorry I didn't warn folks about that. I'm just glad he was rescued
and I wanted to show everyone what an adorable boy he is. Wish I had
more space in my place for him!

What Theresa said, in both cases!   And what a sweet, sweet kitten!
How could anyone have the heart to hurt a cat that adorable?  I do not
defend what they did in the least, but unpleasant and scary as the
dunking must have been for the poor baby, I confess I'm relieved they
were playing with water rather than with fire, or harsh chemicals.
Being cold and wet is harm that can be undone with warm towels gentle
talking and touching and love.  Bast bless your friend for her good
deed, and dirty litter box offerings to the kitten's tormentors.

Well, from the sound of things, these kids weren't too bright, so it's
entirely possible they could have drowned him without intending to. It's
good he only got cold and wet (and scared, too, I'm sure!).

A great deal of harm is done to animals and other hoomins by people
who didn't intend it to go that far. It is very likely that the kids
didn't intend to drown the kitten and would have been remorseful had
it happened but that is what they were risking.

At the very least they should serve some community service tiime in an
animal shelter. Or a tiger's cage.

Nah.  Handcuff 'em behind their backs. Strip 'em naked.  Tie one ball to a
rock, tie the other ball to a rocket. Repeat with the other offender. Light
the fuses. Early 4th of July!

Adorable and probably very quick to be adopted.

I trust and hope that the boys will be ok after a few weeks in the
hospital. The death penalty for such behavior is a bit severe. A week
in a cuisenart (tm) would be fine.

How cuuuuuuuuuuttte!  With those thumbs he looks like an orange baby
Buster!  I wish someone had taken a video of those boys and sent it to
the police.

Poor little baby was probably terrified.Purrs that he will recover and
find a good home.    I hope those awful boys are punished somehow.MLB

I was told kittens with big paws grow up to be big cats- used to scare me
because Fugazi (RB) had giantic paws when she was a kitten but although she
grew up to a fairly big  size, the odd thing is she still had big feet even
as an adult

Reminds me of Ka'Shay when we became her slave last year.  All I could think
is how could some one leave this beautiful orange ball of fur with those big
little paws.  It can't believe it will be a year tomorrow that we became
slaves to her

Awww! Luckily, he doesn't look the worse for wear. As you say, there's a
lot of attitude there. Dirty litterbox offerings to the teenagers. I
hope they don't find another victim to act out their own insecurities on.

Good for her!  That is wonderful that she got involved.  Purrs for a
wonderful home for the kitten.

giving him a home.
