Marina - 20 Jun 2007 14:31 GMT The other night, I had the door to the enclosure open. I was sitting, watching TV, when Caliban ran past me with something in his mouth. For a moment, I thought it looked like a mouse, so I went to investigate. It was a leaf <phew> Then I started wondering how a leaf could get into the enclosure, when the mesh is too fine. Today, I got to witness how the leaf could get inside, and I just happened to have my camera handy. It seems that leaves are not allowed to rest on the enclosure on their way to wherever leaves go when they fall off trees. ;) The sequence starts here:

He ran straight towards the door with it, but he dropped it and then he forgot about it.
The other day, my sister came and helped me fasten this old pole from an old cat tree to the side of the enclosure. The cats really like it, especially Mir. The first day, she would climb up the pole, then run along the catwalks and down the ramp, then rush back to the pole and climb up. Two pics starting here:

Miranda singing to the birdies:

She started singing again, but then decided to yawn instead:

Caliban looks pretty precarious on that fence!

Except that he was heading straight inside with the leaf! Luckily he dropped it and then forgot what he was doing. (Hope you see this. Speaking of seeing, did you get a new monitor?)

Actually, I did see your post further down, I just hadn't seen it yet when I posted the above. I sort by subject, so everything with the same subject line should go together. Maybe the subject line in the replies were slightly different?
Anyway, I guess Caliban is kind of an ADD hero: "I'll save you, Nell*! Oh, look, a bird."
(*"Nell" was the damsel who was forever in distress, in a cartoon from my childhood called Dudley Doright. It was about a Canadian Mounty (Dudley), his girl Nell, and Snidely Whiplash - who I'm sure you can tell, just from the name, was the villain. :))
> Speaking of seeing, did you get a new monitor?) I was going to go on Sunday, but ran out of time. Haven't gotten around to it. At the moment, it's acting completely normal, and I can see the screen just fine. That's how it's been all along, though - dark, light, dark, light... etc. It's just that the dark periods are longer and more frequent.

It seems some newsreaders strip away anything before a colon, so when I put Pics:... in the subject line, some newsreaders strip away the Pics: (though I guess they are only supposed to strip away a Re:).
> Anyway, I guess Caliban is kind of an ADD hero: "I'll save you, Nell*! > Oh, look, a bird." Yes, that pretty much sums him up. :P

Thanks a lot for the share :)
Miranda has the same wonderful athletic shape as Claudius, must be the shared Burmese genetic inheritance.
I for one am jealous.

Which just goes to show that it is never too late to recycle Internet humor, since you don't know who has seen it and who hasn't. The Stevie Wonder cat is one of my favorites. Although I'm fond of the Hip-Hop kitty, too - with all his bling, LOL. :)
I'm always afraid to laugh too much at funny net jokes while at work, since that would give away the fact that I'm not working...
(On the other hand, some of my actual work is pretty funny, too - my favorite was a badly translated manual, from Japanese to English. The "Troubleshooting" section started out with this sentence: "Shoot the troubles using the instructions in the following table.")
