I think I found a home for Stinky Nick.......

And it's not mine.....

*SIGH*

A lady came in today with FOUR bitties, and all of them about Nick's
age.  When she made the appointment in the morning we got to talking
and it turns out she does kitten rescue too and she offered to take a
look at Nick.

So I went home during my lunch hour and to Nick's surprise and chagrin
pulled him out from under the bed and stuffed him back into the bitty
carrier.

I walked into the exam room carrying Nick and all four of the other
bitties were walking around the exam room, sniffing every inch.

I put Nick down and they all congregated around him and me, sniffing
EVERY INCH of him.

They sniffed each other as the lady and I got to talking.  She fell in
love with Nick and was willing to take him right on the spot.  She
said her friend would LOVE to adopt him.

Meanwhile, I felt like a mom who just had taken her kid to preschool
for the first time.  Nick was wandering about and sniffing the other
cats who were sniffing him.

Suddenly Nick turned and came back towards me.  He got onto my shoe
and looked up at me with the most PITIFUL BITTY EYES.

And started CLIMBING up the leg of my scrub pants, all the way up to
my shoulder.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.........I was so tempted to just snatch
him up and leave.

ARGH!!!!  OKAY I ADMIT IT I'M ATTACHED!!!!!

Man I was weakening with every little mew.

But then i got called into treatment and had to handle four cases at
once and my head was spinning, that i felt I couldn't make a
decision.

But I did touch bases with the lady before she left and she was going
to come tomorrow to maybe take a picture.

Soooo, thought it's very hard for me to do this......I'm going to
bring Nick in to work tomorrow and call her and take her up on her
offer to take Nick.

He'll be in a much bigger house and have four other bitties to play
with.  Bitties that actually want to play instead of hissing and
smacking him around like my cats have.  He'll be able to play and run
his little heart out.

It's really what's best for him......

So as I look on him killing my shoe for what may be the last time,
tomorrow i'll hand him over so he can go to another temporary home and
then onto his permanent home.

*sniff*

So expect a posting from me tomorrow.

Oh, this is so sad, but at the same time, you're right about the bitty
friends. Nick will be happy to have their company. {{{Kristi}}} This
will be hard on you.

It *would* be good for him to be with some other bitties, but if the
lady's friend falls through, you could always ask for him back.
Mischief - 16 Jun 2007 03:46 GMT
I could easily postpone giving him up anyway, but i figured i have to
do this soon, or else i'm not going to be able to let him go.  THe
longer I wait, the harder it will be.

The last two weeks have been quite a joy and quite an adventure.

And i'm sure he'll soon warm up to chasing other bitties around

Have you talked to anyone about this woman? Made sure she is legit and all?
Mischief - 16 Jun 2007 03:57 GMT
She's a good client and seems legit enough for me.  She had already
brought in another stray cat the other day.  She thought she was
pregnant.

The cat was just gassy.  But i get a good feeling from this lady.

I talked to the girl that does the rescue and she still is willing to
take him to the adoption fair this Sunday, but if he did find him a
home she would hook me up with the people wanting to adopt him and
once i got him neutered, i would then hand him over.

So those were my options.......

I figure being with other bitties is best for little Nick, and since
she's find homes for the others anyway, finding one more doesn't sound
like it would be a problem.

And again, the longer i wait, i'm afraid i won't be able to let him
go.

Having him look up at me with those scared eyes and climbing up my
pants leg, my heart melted.  And it was then I knew that i had to find
a home for him or give in.

And with my asthma and allergies, with four cats i really would start
to worry about my overall health.

Like, I said, foster.........

*sniff*

Just making sure. Having bitty siblings will definitely help "school"
him a bit.
Mischief - 16 Jun 2007 04:19 GMT
OH yeah

I'm sending him off to Hoolikitten School

Don't worry, Kristi. I'm sure you are doing the right
thing. You'll miss him at first but knowing that he will
go to the good home will be satisfying. You gave him
love and attention when he needed it most, and now he
will have other bitties to play with and a good Mom to
take care of him too. You did good. Tell the lady to keep
you up to date at least for a little while. God bless.

Poor Kristi, doing the right thing is painful. But it does sound like
a good home.

Purrs for your hurting heart.

You're made of stronger stuff than me- I would have and spent an age
apologising to him for even thinking about it!

Then again when it comes to cats I have the word "Sucker" tattooed on
me- if I had the space and money I don't know hoe many cats I would
have!

You would have an enormous estate with dozens of cats. And because
you were wealthy, everyone would refer to you as "eccentric", rather
than as a "crazy cat lady". :)
