Yes it is a joy having a bitty around.
My arms have brand new scratches every few days. I get my head
pounced on every morning. And I wake up in the middle of the night to
a bitty suckling on parts of me like i'm his mommy.
Sheesh!
Anyway, in terms of the fostering, YES I'M STILL FOSTERING, I talked
to the girl who runs a rescue and we seem to have a slight
disagreement.
She is willing to take him and put him up for adoption, BUT......he
has to be neutered first.
Damn.... didn't think about that.
Problem is, he is about 8 weeks old now, which is the very earliest a
male kitten can get the 'snip', but medicially in my opinion and all
the doctors i work with agree with me, its way too early.
At our clinic we wait until six months of age. Uh, that's a little
TOO long for me to have a bitty. Not that I don't mind, but I will be
going out of town for 2 weeks at the end of August and my old roomie
who will be watching my kitties, i don't want to have to burden her
with FOUR.
Sheesh, SIX months of age would mean waiting until OCTOBER to get him
neutered. LIttle TOO long since i'm just fostering, YES FOSTERING.
I could see waiting until August, which would be 4 months. In my
personal opinion, 4-6 months is the ideal age.
Sooo.......
I'm going to have to postpone adoption until i can either find someone
who is willing to adopt Nick and take the resposibiility of getting
him 'snipped' or wait until he's old enough to be 'snipped' and then
give him to the rescue people. Unless I can find a rescue that's
willing to take him 'unsnipped'
I'm STILL FOSTERING!!!!!!!!!
I took in this bitty because i kinda had an inkling that the guy that
brought him is wasn't going to take him and I wasn't about to a) Leave
the bitty in a cage all weekend by himself. And b) Give him back to
someone who i knew couldn't take him and go on with my life worrying
about what was going to happen to him.
I'm not sure why, but yes I was drawn to this bitty.
And he was sooooooooooooooo scared when i first met him. And within
days of welcoming him into my home, he started acting less like a
frightend kitten and more and more like a BITTY.
I see myself as not only fostering but TRAINING him. Had I not
intervened, he would have gone on still being scared and not trusting
humans or even knowing how to interact with other cats. I'm training
him to interact with humans.
But I can't keep him. So I'm just fostering.......
STOP THE SNICKERING I CAN HEAR YOU!!!

Definitely agree with that one - here we neuter between 4-6 months
too. Most, if not all, vets take that approach in the UK.

Excuses, excuses... ;)

Uh-huh. Fostering. If you say so. ;o)

So justifying holding on to him another 2 months. Fostering. If you
say so. ;oP~~

LMAO.... "Fostering". Uh-huh.

*IF* you say so. ;oP~~~

Yes, all very noble reasons.... "Fostering". Uh-huh....

The mothership pinged you, that's why! DUH! ;o)

As it should be. :O) Great news.

Yes. Of course you are. Mischief, Imp and Mayhem would never train him
in the ways of how to wrap a sucker human around their paw within
about 20 minutes. Noooooo. Never! ;o)
Step 1..... Convince the human she is *fostering*...
Step 2...... Make her think she is *training* you..... ;o) ;o)

Yeah, yeah, yeah... *IF* you say so. ;o)

We would never snicker at someone who is *Fostering*! ;o)
Welcome to Nick, the new addition. ;o)

This all sounds like my "I'm going to Japan for a year to check it
out..." That was 1981.
Snickering loudly,

Here, there are no vets that will neuter a cat before 6 months, and
that's the feline-only vet. Most vets won't do it until even later.

LIttle TOO long since i'm just fostering, YES FOSTERING.
Let's see
1. Something about Stinky Nick draws you to him but at this point, he has a
home to go to
2. After looking after him for one night, you take him to his new home only
to find he hasn't got a home
3. You arrange for him to be shown for adoption
4. It turns out that the adoption show is only for dogs so you have to keep
him for a couple of weeks
5. The adoption lady then says he has to be neutered first
6 This means you have to keep him until at least August
How do I put this? Fate and the Mothership obviously want you to have this
kitten!

I have never met anyone willing to cat sit our two cats who suddenly
refused when they became four cats.
This is not a good excuse ;)
Beware, if bitty grows into kitty, he is there to stay. :)

Totally true- it's hardly any extra work to feed and clean the tray for a 4th
one especially a cute little bitty!
