Hi All,

Sumo, who you can't help but love, is one of those cats who drinks out
of the faucet.  Since we have four who drink this way, we usually let
it trickle during periods when everyone is awake.  Three of them turn
their heads sideways and neatly lap up the water as it trickles down.

Sumo, on the other hand, prefers not to do it this way.  While I've
seen him drink from the side, his preferred method is to stick his
forehead under the drip so it cascades down his face and he laps it up
as it runs past his mouth.  I believe there is something of a method
to his madness though.  The first thing he does after exiting the
bathroom is to run to Lynda who will fuss over him as she dries or at
least pets his little face.

"Oh, my boy has a wet face.  Look at that face.  Give me that wet
face.  How did my boy get such a wet face? (This goes on for some
time, depending on how long Sumo will put up with being babied.)

For all I know he just does it his way, not out of ignorance, just so
he *can* be babied.

Regards and Purrs,
O J

Hee hee.

Mimi used to get a wet head. ;)

Stinky just gets wet paws, and little black paw prints everywhere.

My old kitty (Scamper-RB) used to do the same thing.  Of course, she
was also the kitty who used to take showers with me, or sit in the
sprinklers in the summer. She *liked* being wet. Today we have Scamper
weather.  It's drizzling- one of those soft rains that just soakes
everything.  She'd go out on the back deck and sit in the rain until
she was thoroughly soaked, then come in and want to be cuddled.

I accidentally broke the drain pipe from my bathtub to the septic tank
during a plumbing repair. Ever since then I leave the water in the bathtub
after I have a bath and dip it out by the bucketful to flush the toilet,
because the tub now drains into the backyard via some sections of radiator
hose, and I want to minimize the dampness back there. Tommy will stand with
his back feet on the rim of the tub and front feet in the water and drink
from the tub.

Felix will drink from the tub while I'm in it. :-)

Does he say "You so fine, I'd drink a tub of your bath water?" ;)

He's not usually talkative. :-)

I suspect gray water (soapy) is not healthful to drink.

Probably not harmful to a cat, though. I guess it depends on the soap.

It's not like he doesn't have clean, fresh water in his bowl. I guess he
just prefers to consume the dead skin cells I shed into the bath water
because he adores me so much ;)

Talk about timing. I just sat down after turning on the faucet in the
bathroom sink. Mouse loves to "catch" the drips of water. Although she
is a sideways drinker.
