Four times, now, Barnabus has been in to tell me that someone has
stolen the food.  He runs into the kitchen and then comes back and
murrps (Barnabus doesn't meow, he murrps instead).  He's headbutted me
twice and tried to herd me into the kitchen when I got up a moment
ago.  He is so very worried that the food is gone for good.  He's a
little slow sometimes. I don't think he's realized the disappearance
of food always happens before the cat carrier comes out and someone
disappears the next morning.  Sam is going in for a follow-up x-ray
tomorrow morning.  The vet tech who makes the appointment always
implies they might have to anesthesize him.  Fortunately Sam is such a
laid back cat that they are able to get x-rays without knocking him
out.  With his asthma casual anesthesia isn't the recommended course
of action.  It has now been 8 months since the cancer was removed.  I
have my fingers crossed that the x-rays show the tumor still hasn't
returned.

Barnabus has the perfect face for begging, just all yellow eyes. :)  I
hope that Sam will come up clean on the checkup.

Lots of purrs heading over for Sam's check-up. Miranda says sometimes
slow is good. I told her this is a family newsgroup, but she insisted I
post her message to Barnabus. She also said he can come here and eat her
food (she's not that bothered), but Caliban said if anyone is allowed to
eat her food it should be him.

So glad that Sam is doing well, and purrs that he continues.  As for

Sending purrs that everything is fine.   MLB

The news is cautious.  Sam's x-rays show something might be growing on
the end of the remaining portion of rib that was removed with the
osteosarcoma.  The end seems to have a flaring of something.  It was
there four months ago and doesn't seem to have grown since then.  The
vet didn't mention it the last time but he did want to see Sam in
three months so maybe he was being cautious. Since I didn't get back
for 4 months (unfortunately work prevented this, but if I'd known...)
I think he made sure I knew about it so that when he told me I needed
to bring Sam back in two months he'd know I would.  He pointed out
that the original growth was very slow growing and the fact that this
one doesn't seem to have changed in 4 months perhaps it too will be
slow growing.  The plan of action right now is to wait and watch. The
good news is that Sam's lungs look really good. This is a side-
advantage to having a tumor on the ribs of an asthmatic cat. You get
to have x-rays of his lungs periodically. Then again, we wouldn't have
found the tumor when we did if Sam hadn't been asthmatic and having
difficulty breathing that took us to the emergency vet.

Thanks for the purrs. I'll keep everyone updated and let you know what
happens in August when we go back.

I hope it is nothing. He is such a good boy.

Purrs that it doesn't grow in the next 3 months, or ever. Poor Sam, he
doesn't deserve all this.

Thanks Karen. How is Pearl, btw? Did she have her dental?

No. We switched insulins and everything has gotten much better, but now
I am not in a financial position to do the dental, and I am not in much
of a hurry. She must have gotten resistant to the lantus, because she
is doing fine on the PZI now. thanks for asking! She actually played
bed mice for the first time ever the other night.

Aww! I just switched from Lantus to another insulin, too. It wasn't the
Lantus that was the problem, it was the stupid dysfunctional insulin pen
that went along with it that was the problem. Scritches to Pearl. So
glad to hear she is doing so well.

Purrs that the X-rays come back normal, one Sam to another.
