OT- New computer

I'm so excited, I got a new computer on Monday :-)  My old computer
was 4 years old and I've been planning to get a new one forever.  I
finally took the plunge.  It was a good time because the exchange rate
from the Thai baht to the Canadian dollar is really, really good right
now and Dennis can also get a 2 year interest free loan from his
employer every 2nd year and it's been 2 years since he got his laptop.
So I got a really cool and really fast new computer and a 17 inch Sony
LCD monitor :-)  I could not go to bed last night until I had it all
set up, I'm so compulsive!  So this is my first test post, I hope it
works.
To get this back on topic, Vino really approves because the small
monitor has freed up acres of space on my desk and now he can lie
about and stretch out without me constantly pushing him away from the
keyboard.  Everybody wins :-)

I know how you feel Britta,  I have a new computer too.  It is so fast,  and
I have a similar LCd Monitor,  mine is a Samsung,  also have a DSL
connection.  I had to buy a new desk to fit it all,  the printer/scanner is
an Epson Photo RX 510 and it is huge!

Congrattylations on the new computer. I'm glad Vino appreciates it -
they can get so annoyed when you change something!

Congratulations!  The speed of the new ones is incredible.  Just when you
think they can't break the sound barrier...

I'm glad Vino approves!

I had a  new computer myself in September, and I was excited about it too.
My old one was born in 1996 and was *so* slow that I never read any links
anyone sent as they cost me a fortune as I was on pay per minute.
But now my computer is fast, and also broadband is now available here, which
it wasn't just a few months ago.  It's just great and I know exactly how you
feel.
I wish you a lot of pleasure from your new machine.
Oh, btw, don't stay up too late playing with what your computer can do, like
me.  The novelty has not worn off yet.  It was several days before I went to
bed before 4 a.m, reading the net at last.

Sigh.  Unfortunately, broadband isn't available in my area yet.  Or at
least from what I've heard it's about $800/month, so not exactly
feasible.  This new computer does seem to get me a bit faster on the
dial up though, I'm often connected at 38.0 now instead of 14.4 or
16.8.  I usually look at the links people post, but I have them
loading in another window while I continue to read messages.  I
usually just look at pictures, I don't do videos.
Dennis told me that some guy who he works with told him that he heard
that broadband is, or will soon be, available here for cheap.  I plan
to follow up on the rumour ASAP!  I just have to wait for this guy to
come back from his honeymoon, but as soon as it's socially acceptable
to pester him for info, I'll be doing so ;-)
