I went and got the mail and bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!  Dammit!  I let in a fly.
Not to worry.  The boys are on the case.  Dante gets this one.
Straight up in the air, and SNAP!!!   Fly's gone.

Boots does a peculiar thing with flies. She doesn't kill them. She
just makes 'em walk. Yeah, she
wounds them until they can't fly, then loses interest.  In mid summer
we always end up with these
walking flies all over if we've been in & out the door a lot and let
flies in.

Was I the only who immediately filled in "the plank" when reading
this?  The things they pick up on The Mouser!

Ketzl hasn't been bitten by the Summer Bug (!) yet; I've had a couple of
flies in here already: one dive-bomber about the size of a small Cessna, and
one small slow-mover; the kind you can walk up behind and reach out and grab.
He ignored both of them, despite my alerting him to their presence. I thought
he'd get excited and go after them, but no.

He'll probably warm up eventually. Last summer he was quite fond of eating
them, after experimenting on them. Gradually he must have lost the taste,
because I started finding half-eaten fly carcasses all over the place. He
must have brought them in from outside, because they normally don't get
through the screens.

LOL. One time I heard someone say, of a huge fly, "you could put a saddle
on that thing."

Hmm. It might be that he remembers they weren't very tasty...

My ex used to say "It was wearing a leather helmet and a silk scarf."

That was how we described the horseflies that plagued us at the beach!

Poor Snoopy's terrified of flys, I think she must have been stung at one
time and thinks any flying insect can hurt her.

Amelia sure thinks summer is near. First thing she does when we go out in
the back yard is to flop onto the concrete at the foot of the steps and
have a good long roll on the sun-warmed surface. Then she'll get up and
explore the yard a bit, come over to me for some pettins, then go flop on
another warm patch of concrete.

Yesterday, we had a 30/35 degree temperature drop and lots of rain.  We
also had 14 inches of snow in the higher elevations.  My roses were
ruined  by the wild wind that accompanied the storm.  MLB

I gave up on the roses. No snow, but what leaves that were left that
didn't fall off from blackspot
(due to too much rain), the wind whipped to death.

I once watched Zeke and Mingus (brothers) chasing a fly round the
flat.  Mingus caught it (he was always the quick one) but instead
of just disposing of it he waited for his brother to come along so
they could share it.

How sweet of him.  "If I had a fly, I'd give you half." ;)

My daughter said Woodgie caught and ate a big old bug that she was
terrified of last night (daughter, not Woodgie). We have no mice, so the
fact that she can catch "big old bugs" is a plus. So we have a bugger,
not a mouser. :-)
