My brother sent me a text message today telling me that his Springer
Spaniel, Maggie, had a grand mal seizure today. He got her to the vet
and got a prescription for some meds, and should get the results of her
blood work back tomorrow.
We're hoping it's nothing serious. We are well acquainted with epileptic
Springers; my mom had a Springer a few years back with epilepsy, and it
didn't have a major impact on her quality of life.
Maggie has had a rough time of it so far. Pat adopted her from a
Springer rescue group in Arizona. That group had rescued her from a
pound in New Mexico. From her demeanor, it appears that she had been
badly abused before she ended up in the pound. Pat has had his hands
full getting her to relax and enjoy life and trust the humans that love
her. But he has made excellent progress with her, and she's much more
relaxed now that she was before.
Purrs for her to not have serious medical problems would be much
appreciated.

Purrs and doggy-wags that Maggie will be A-OK. Poor doggy has had
enough sorrow in her life and deserves to enjoy many happy years with
your brother. Let us know how she does.

Aww. Major purrs that the meds work out just fine. So is this something
Springers are prone to?

Sending purrs for Maggie to be alright - especially since life hasn't
been kind to her before your brother rescued her.
