DH's co-worker's daughter will take "Pong" - but they said he will likely be
renamed as "pong" sounds too much like 'bong" :P

Bad thing is that they can't take him until July/August, when their daughter
moves to her new apartment - she will be attending Purdue Univ. in West
Lafayette, IN.  They did offer to pay his vet bills until they take him -
but that's not our main concern.  Our concern a the few cats that we have
that would like us to have few cats than we do.

Speaking of vet bills, I need to go an get the dog some more of his meds &
food, and make an appt for "Pong" to make sure he has no nasties & gets his
required shots.

That's a reason?   ;)

So Pong is staying where in the meantime?

He goes to the vet on Tuesday & gets checked for nasties & whatnot.  Then he
will be integrated into the household until he goes to his new home.  The
girl's parents would take him until them, but they have a couple of
yappy-yorkies that terrorize the cats that they do have, and they feel that
him staying in one place instead of being moved a couple of times would be
better for him.

Sounds like they have more sense than certain government entities who
deal with foster children.

That may be better in the long run but once he's integrated into the
household for a few months it will be harder to let him go.  You know that
:)

*Few* cats you have? LOL.

It might be good for you to allow her parents to pay for the vet bills,
not for the sake of the money itself, but so that they will be making
a commitment to taking Pong. Otherwise, it's all too easy for them to
just change their minds for one reason or another. They're a lot less
likely to do that if they've plunked down some money for his care.

My mind was not straight this morning (is it ever?).  Yesterday I spent 10
hours straight babysitting a friend's needlework shop while she's out of
town at a trade show.

The line /should/ have read:
Our concerne is the few of the cats that we do have that would
like us to have fewer cats than there are.

You have a good point, but with the kind of money they have , I don't think
that'll be an issue.  They're good people and spoil their pets (as well as
their kids:D) - and the daughter *does* want a cat!  Threatened to take her
mom's cat with her!It just doesn't matter to us if they pay it or not.

I'm sorry to hear they are not able to take Pong now.
Lots of purrs and best wishes for everything to go well,
