A friend of mine sent me a funny email.  She was putting in a few flowers
and it was getting hot.  She glanced over, hey, the pool's right here.  Got
her bathing suit on, sat at the edge with her feet in for a few minutes.
Her cat was
hanging out in the shade under a bush.  (They never let her out unsupervised
and she's a good cat; she stays in the yard.)  When she got all the way into
the pool she looked up.  Her cat was running over looking all freaked out.
OMG Mommy fell in!  Now what do I do??  LOL

Muddy used to stare at me with a look of complete horror when I was in
the pool, how could somebody deliberately get completely wet like that,
the horror!

I do remember one occasion when Muddy and Emily were rough housing
around the pool and Muddy knocked Emily in, she was completely f***ing
livid, spitting nails :-)

I think all my furballs except ka'shay has fallen into the pool at least
once. I had a pool company come in and install an low edge under the water
level so if one falls in they can get out with ease.  It has the rough nubs
so they can get a grip if they need too.  Every one will watch me like a
hawk when I dive in and start swimming.  They have a fit when I go under and
come up in a new location

A friend's mother was one of us who fed all the neighborhood
strays, who generally regarded the swimming pool as their
water bowl.  He used to tell of the time a Siamese newcomer
managed to fall in!  (He swore that cat hit the water and
subsequently the roof of the adjacent cabana, with no stops
in between!)

It was a morning ritual with Frank and Nikki when we were on the island
in the summers. I would go for my early-morning skinny dip, and they
would follow me to within a safe distance of the water's edge. They
would stop there and watch me go in. When I got out of the water, they
would both be sitting there, craning their necks to see if Meowmie
drowned this morning, or were they going to get their breakfast. When I
came up to them, they would both greet me with tails up and rubbing
against my legs.

Mir and Caliban seemed to start following the same ritual last summer.
Caliban looked absolutely shocked when he saw me go in the water the
first time.
