My first thought, upon seeing the topic line, was "Horrors!" Then I
realized that it was only intended for cats that weren't internet-
savvy, like the ones that post here. :o)

Seems that someone says they've written a program to detect when a cat
is walking across the keyboard, to protect the human users from having
a cat step on the wrong key(s) and send an incomplete email, foul up
an electronic payment, etc.

It's probably easier just to show one's cat how to use RPCA and
RPCC. ;o)

Captain: Whatta ya MEAN it doesn't let cats send email?
Stanley: We don't email. We post on usenet. That's different.
Captain: Oh, OK. That's better.

OEJ and stormmee would just uninstall it when we were out, Lee

I remember teaching Feather to do HTML. He just didn't want to be
bothered. Finally, he wrote a C++ program that did it for him and went
back to his nap.

LOL! That's funny... But probably true...Woodgie is still not interested
in either e-mail or programming - thank Bast!

WooToo's chief interest is in computer chairs. When i got her a chair
of her very own it left her with  dilemma. Sometimes she wants one,
sometimes the other. She never minds my using the 'other" chair.

LOL!  Fortunately neither of my cats show any interest in my computer.  I
dread to think what KFC might post being as fierce as she always is!

The only "interest" Ketzl exhibits is if/when he feels it's time I paid some
attention to him and I happen to be computerizing (which I do a lot, I
admit.) When that happens, he merely wants/needs/tries to get between me and
the screen. He has no interest in inputting or even browsing.

<sigh> Not a chip off the old-geek-block, that one.

When I say no interest it is just that, no getting between me and the
screen, no perching on the monitor, no walking on the keyboard, as far as
they are concerned the computer does not exist.  I'm not too sorry about
that.

<grin>  I hope not.   KFC would be in touch with Joyce's Licky and Boyfie
with MMJ's Mimi all the time otherwise ;-)

I was wondering why Licky tried to download Skype...

Persia's the same way.  She's never shown the slightest interest in getting
up on my desk let alone getting between me and the computer.  At most, she
sits on the pillow on the floor next to my chair, stares at me with her big
green eyes and meows plaintively if she wants something.

I wish I could get Ketzl to exhibit the same lack of interest in my auto-dial
telephone. It has a "dynamic" keypad, where you don't even have to pick up
the receiver to make a call... you just start pressing keys and the dial tone
comes on, and it dials through the speakerphone. Add that function to the
autodial keys, and you can make calls by pressing only one key and without
lifting the receiver. (It seemed like a handy thing to have at the time, but
I didn't have Ketzl then.)

I think he tried to call China one time, when the melamine scandal first
erupted.

LMHO! My Harmony(RB) did this with a speakerphone I used to have.

There I was, sitting in the chair next to the end table where the
speakerphone was located, reading the newspaper. Miss Harmony decided
that I was giving attention to that dumb ol' paper that I should have
been giving to HER, so she walked over to let me know.

Her "shortest distance to Meowmy" route included walking across the
end table. Including, apparently, stepping on one of the speed-dial
buttons on the speakerphone.

I looked up from my newspaper after hearing a man's voice saying,
"Hello? Hello?" I thought, "That sounds like a radio on my endtable."

<pause>

<realization>

"I don't HAVE a radio on my end table! What am I hearing?" I looked
over and sure enough, the red "speakerphone" button was lit. "Oh,
shoot -- there's a call on my phone!" I grabbed the receiver.

"Hi, this is Donna, to whom am I speaking?"

"This is [now-ex-husband of my friend]", he said.

"I'm sorry -- my cat stepped on the speed dial and called you. But
since I have you on the line, is [friend] there?"

"No, sorry, she's not home."

"When she gets in, could you please tell her that Harmony called?"

In a voice that, I could tell, was him trying his best not to laugh
his head off right into the phone, he said, "I'll do that".

And he did. LOL. Later that evening, my friend called back and asked
to speak to the cat. :o)

BTW... of COURSE Harmony picked the farthest-away long distance number
on the whole speakerphone to step on. She couldn't step on a local
number, oh no, it had to be the most expensive number I had saved.

Then again, it was also the number where the most cats resided. :o)
Maybe she was just trying to call her cousins Tigger and Melissa for a
chat.

Donna, and the cats who haven't placed any phone calls YET, Captain
and Stanley

I use a small programme called "Paw sense" which is very good.

With 5 cats, all who like to supervise my PC use is pretty much
essential! :)
