Some of you will remember me mentioning him before. He and his wife take in
cats and birds that find themselves in dire circumstances. At least one of
you has read one of his books.
Could his cat Frannie have some purrs and any left over for himself?
He mailed me this:

Just a short note to get you up to date with what's been going on. Our
cat Frannie apparently got hit by a car Sunday night. She has a
fractured pelvis and a dislocated leg. Nothing can be done for the leg
until the pelvis heals. But the main concern now is getting her to eat
and drink water. We don't know if she has internal injuries or not. She
is a tough little cat, but she has serious injuries, and I'm quite
worried about her. I am not letting my emotions get away from me this
time. I'm trying to take a larger look at things and understand that
we're doing all we can for her, and it doesn't help matters for me to
drag myself around moping.
We have had very bad luck with our animals recently. I didn't tell you,
because it happened while you were in surgery, but we lost our cockatiel
Louie to a tumor not too long ago, and on Sunday our dove Jessie died from a
crop infection.
I can't see that we're doing anything wrong with any of these animals,
or that we are at fault for what has happened, but it is hard not to
feel responsible as their owners.
----------------------
Please don't post that Frannie should have been kept inside. She is
semi-feral and he only got her a few weeks ago. It would freak her out to be
inside and where Bob lives is normally quite safe. She was trapped and was
going to be put down, so softy Bob took her.
He also has another semi-feral called Agnes and a couple more kitties who
hang around in the house, all rescued.

Lots of purrs on the way for Frannie, it's amazing what some animals recover
from. Comforting purrs for Bob for the loss of his birds and his worries for
Frannie.
I notice the link in your post takes you to the same page as

Does it? That's his website, his first book was called Enslaved by Ducks.
I'm not trying to advertise his books I just wanted purrs for Frannie and by
posting a link you would all see that he was genuine.
He takes these things very hard indeed.

I feel for them, really I do. You put your heart out there when you take in
the broken and unwanted. And you know deep down they will most likely
break your hearts but you do it anyway. People like that may be a bit soft
in the head, but they also have the courage of lions.
Purrs on the way that Frannie's injuries can heal and that she will be whole
with time.
Note that my spell checker wants to "correct" Frannie to Fannie or to Fanny.
Still quite acceptable names in the US.
PetMalt and water off your finger can keep a cat going for quite a while.
IV fluids may be necessary as well for a while. And our Sam was proof that
cats can live long and useful lives after recovering from dire injuries.
Make sure to remind them that "tummy rubs" are critical for a while if a cat
can't walk about. Gotta keep those intestines moving.

Sometimes I wish he would stop rescuing because it hurts him so much if they
die. At the same time I know he will never stop.
Latest news is that Frannie is a tiny bit better. Her pain meds were too
high and now they are reduced a bit she is eating and drinking.

Purrs from here that Frannie can be put right soon and a double dose for
Bob's worries.

As usual the purrs are working. This is the latest update today:

Frannie has been improving almost literally by leaps and bounds.
Yesterday she managed sneak out the front door (we're supposed to keep
her confined to the porch for a minimum of two weeks). Linda found her
basking in the sun beside the house. I didn't know she could walk that
well already. I don't want her going outdoors yet, however. I'm afraid
she might walk too far and be unable to make it back. She is one tough
little cat.

I haven't ever told him when I ask for purrs on here for his critters. It's
a sort of secret in case he thinks it's weird, but just look at that to see
if purrs and prayers work! This cat has a fractured pelvis and a dislocated
leg that cannot be put back until the pelvis mends. Thanks, everyone.
Yay for Frannie!!

There's some good news. And I have come clean about the purrs and prayers.
I thought Bob might not understand, but of course he does. Seems to be
working for Frannie, keep em coming as she isn't out of the woods yet.
