I talked to Pam today.

She said that Julie sent her a cat.  He is an orange and white tabby with
his own little bed and he purrs up a storm. He is the talk of the medical
center because he looks so much like a real cat.  She named him Wamsey
(somehow a take off on Womack Army Medical Center where she is being
treated.)

Pam, of course, enjoys watching the reaction to the perception that she has
a real cat in the room. She goes along with it, but relents and admits he is
not a real cat if the person claims to be allergic to cats, or mentions
calling animal control, or some such thing.  She says a different person
delivers the mail each day as a ruse to get to see the cat. Other people
have gone online to find out how to order one of those cats.
.
I'm looking forward to her post after she gets home and lets us know how her
cats react to Wamsey.

About Pan, she's had a setback. She is running a fever and is on a lot more
antibiotics.  She says the medical people determined that the fever is from
an infection caused by the IV line.  So, they had to relocate the IV to her
hand. The fever has spiked as high as 105 degrees F and dropped to 100
degrees and up and down in between.

They have decided that her original problem resulted from a spider bite.
The good news is that more than 90 percent of the skin graft took.  But, now
she has to heal the place nearly the whole front  of one thigh where they
took the skin for the graft.

She's getting cards from RPCA people.  She enjoys these cards immensely,
especially the home-made ones. She will be in the hospital for an
undetermined time.  She didn't ask me to say it, but I bet she'd appreciate
it if we keep the cards coming.

Annie

She is determined to get well and  get home.

Here's a site that has some of the perfect petzzz, but not the entire
selection, at a lower price"

I'm glad they figured out what caused Pam to get sick in the first
place. Now here's hoping they can speedily get her well so she can go
home!

My vet's office has one of those! They keep it on the front desk. The
funny thing is it could easily be a real cat, since that's where cats
come and go from the office. They're usually in carriers, but I suppose
there could be an exception.

As in WAMC, I guess.

I saw one of those in a gift shop.  They look so real I actually touched it.

Oh, no. I haven't caught up since I was ill. Pam is in hospital? As if
she didn't have enough on her plate already! I've asked the cats to purr
extra hard for her. What a shock. Thank you for the update, Annie. Glad
to hear she can talk on the phone.

you beat me to the update, I spoke with her on 05/23... she is very happy to
get the cards and she is totally thrilled with the cat.  The hardest part of
this for her I think is the waiting.  if we could each send her even a note
once in a while I think it would not only cheer her up but it would occupy
some time... and for those who don't know, her son mike is a very good
person... *pssst* she also says Annie and Jim are lovely people... now I
want to me you!!!    I am only concerned for Pam in that I think it worries
her being in there and not with her family.  Lee

We think of Pam and Rob daily, sending lots of purrs and gentle hugs,
