Anybody interested in seeing the latest pics of the house we're
building?
This is the link to the album, the latest ones are at the end, each new
day has the date on the first picture.  May 23 are the latest ones from
today.

I have been very, very busy lately with painting stuff for the trim
around the roof, etc.  We decided to do all our own painting to save a
huge amount of money.  The plan was for Dennis and I to do it together
but the timing isn't working out right now as he's still away working.
But I've been cut back at work to only 3 days a week, so it all works
out since I have more than enough painting to do to fill the other days.

How exciting!!  You have a beautiful view.  Do they do basements in
Austrailia?  I see the house is being built on a "pad".  That rain
tank is the best idea.  We should do it here-parts of my state have so
much problem with drought...when it rains it comes down in buckets but
that's all lost.  May I ask what kind of flooring you are going to put
in?  Don't mean to be nosy, just curious about the differences and
simularities. :)

Basements seem to be extremely rare and expensive.  A friend of ours got
a quote of $30,000 just to put in a little underground wine cellar, so
that's obviously out.
We are putting in tiles throughout the whole house.  45cm square tiles,
kind of a latte colour.  Over here, either tiles or hardwood is common
for the living area but we don't want wooden floors since we have too
much wooden furniture already.  Besides, we can do our own tiling since
Dennis is an experienced tiler.  We have decided to also tile the
bedrooms because I have a particularly strong aversion to carpet.
Keep checking back on the site and you can see the whole thing develop
:-)

When we remove the carpet from most of the house (kitchen and dining
have stained concrete) we're going to put in wooden floors. We love
those things!!!

Ooooh, stained concrete!  That's great too, but for some reason more
expensive than tiles over here.  Wood floors are nice too, we have it in
the house we're renting now, but it kind of doesn't go with our
furniture.  Too much wood.

Wow, that is *awesome*. It looks huge! It looks like you could sit
about 3
of my house inside it!
It's a very beautiful setting, too. Hope you're very happy there, for

time!

Thanks, Sherry!  It is very exciting.  But it's really not that big,
2500 square feet.  3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths.  Fairly normal size for a
house I think.

I was wondering the other day how you were getting on with the house, it's
looking good I'm sure Vino will approve.

Wow! It's starting to look like a house, rather than the site of
an alien landing. :) (Some of the earlier pictures look bizarre to
