Hi Everyone
Last night we were sitting at home with Sarsi doing her dead cat
impersonation on the sofa (Dunzi was asleep in the bedroom) when Dave put the
Red Hot Chilly Peppers on the hi-fi
Sarsi leapt straight up, galloped over my shoulder, shot up the curtains,
shot down again, galloped the length of the flat several times, then jumped
over the sofa and back up the curtains then dived off and bounced off my head
turned in mid air and shot back up the curtains then bounced off my head
again, did a circular gallop around the flat avoiding landing on the floor as
much as possible then hurled herself into the bath and out again (No water in
it) and then twice round the flat
As soon as Dave turned the music off she stopped in her tracks and got back
on the sofa.
Verily she is the Punk Kitten!

It's hard to video a cat when she's pogo'ing on your head!

That might well be MY reaction, too - it doesn't necessarily
signify approval, it probably hurt her ears! (I heartily
HATE what passes for music, nowadays!)

That sounds like she had a cat fit. Must have struck a nerve. MLB

Whoa! Those are the zoomies on steroids!
Hmm. It seems like you need to do some experiments. Try it a few more
times, on, then off, then on again, and see if it gets the same reaction.
Play some other music and see if that gets a reaction.
Cats do respond to different music differently. Roxy usually flounces
out of the room when I play almost anything, and Smudge doesn't like my
singing but will listen to other music.

We've known for years that certain music gives her the zoomies, she likes
Motorhead and the Sex Pistols as well, put those on and she starts running
about, bouncing off things and chasing her tail
As I say verily she is the punk kitten!

What would happen if you played Barry Manilow? :)

Dave would leave home! (Don't tempt me- perhaps this is what I need to do to
get him to go out? Unorthodox physiotherapy but it just might work)

that is too funny!
I always say our Trill is a punk or maybe more a biker cat. I can just
see him in a little black leather jacket -- lol.
Maybe Sarai needs a Mohawk ;-)

She's not just punk, she's a metal head! What a weird little kitty. :)

Weird is the word. Last night she sat on Dave's lap for an hour (and
she's not a lap kitty) watching something about Jimi Hendrix-Okay
let's put the Motley Crue down as an aberration, everyone's got some
record the love but are ashamed to admit it.
Does anyone else have a cat who responds to music? Fugazi (RB) used to
like Pink Floyd and if she was in the room when it was playing she'd
change her position until she was in the perfect spot for the stereo.
The winner was Bingo(RB), whenever Hugh played Steve Hillage, he'd sit
on the right hand speaker and purr loudly as soon as Hugh put
something else on, he'd jump off the speaker. Hugh used to be able to
call him in with the call of "Bingo! Playing Hillage!"

Ketzl prefers string or piano music, preferably classical. He's a big fan of
André Rieu, Perlman, Leif Ove Ansnes, Rachmaninoff (playing "Rachmaninoff")
and YoYo Ma.
But he does tolerate Enya.
I have to close him in the bedroom when I'm blasting "Disraeli Gears",
though.

Perhaps he'd like the stylings of Ms. Nora. :)

Although I myself have enjoyed the stylings of Ms. Nora many times, he
doesn't seem to be interested. However, when I play any of the aforementioned
music, he's quite content.

Tabs (RB) used to hate me playing "Last Post" on my trumpet. No other
tune seemed to bother him.
