Pat - 21 May 2007 00:11 GMT My birfday, 5/21. Ho hum.... Back when I was a cab driver, in 1973, I was "Car 54". Anyone remember that TV show, "Car 54, Where Are You?"

Yes, I remember that show, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Since I have 17 years on you, allow me to inform you that, at 54, you are just a youngster.

My parents will have been married 57 years come July 2nd. John is 14 years older than I am. We didn't notice it when I was 20 and we don't notice it now!

On the flip side, I find things like television shows mark semi-significant moments in our lives. For example, I remember exactly where I was when JFK was shot and the tragedy played out on television. I recall watching 'Romper Room' and always wanted a Magic Mirror! (heh, who knew later it would be the basis of my most spiritual self?). The Andy Griffith show; I Love Lucy (granted, I saw that in reruns).
I went a number of years without television; the programming wasn't so great in Bangkok in 1969 LOL It's a good thing I love to read.
But upon returning to the U.S. I remember first seeing the television show 'M*A*S*H' and thinking what a radical concept it was. Ditto 'All in the Family' and 'Sanford & Son'. Not too many recent television shows hold my attention. Again, I'm glad I love to read!

The Andy Griffith show; I > Love Lucy (granted, I saw that in reruns). You can keep Lucy :~) the Andy Griffith show reminds me of my home town. Our sheriff never wore a gun either biggest crime we have ever had in my home town was a drunk or an a local bar fight involving coal miners

Some of those old shows I look at them now and see how some are so (IMO) racist but at that time what a concept
By the way Good Morning Jill it is way to early for me but got a long day ahead have to go to Cape Canaveral today

"All in the Family" and "Sanford and Son" were both adaptations of British shows ("Till Death do us Part" and "Steptoe and Son"). The originals were *much* better.

There's a holdup in the Bronx. Brooklyn's broken out in fights. There's a traffic jam in Harlem that's backed up to Jackson Heights. There's a scout troop short a child. Kruschev's due at Idlewild. Car 54, where are you?
It took me a minute to remember Jackson Heights.

I vaguely remember that show but I'm just a little younger than you (I got the big 5-0 later this year!) and I've never paid much attention to the TV even as a kid- I can go days without watching it and if I didn't have Dave around I probably wouldn't even have one!
