jmcquown - 18 May 2007 16:16 GMT Folks here may not care but there are more and more irritating nonsense posts on other newsgroups and the majority of them are coming from gmail users. So I've just killfiled the entire domain (for the time being). School is about to let out (it's already out in some places) and it will only get worse. So if you're posting from a gmail address I won't see your posts unless someone replies to them. Sorry!

I don't see that - on the other hand, there IS a lot of spam from groups.google.com (and the non-spam messages from there are so unreadably formatted you might want to killfile them anyway). The two services are independent.

I hear talk about this all the time and I've wondered.

From where I sit, your posts are fine. I use a dedicated news reader.
On the original topic, I haven't noticed a lot of gmail spam (but I probably will from now on. :-)

Certainly not unmanageable to just ignore. Am I just not seeing them?

Am I just not seeing them? I did say it's happening mostly in other ngs. And it's sad really; they are posting stuff about Britney Spears' boobs (I don't even know what she looks like, boobs or not) and other ludicrous stuff. It's coming from teens in floods now that school is out. I got tired of killfiling individuals (they crosspost like mad, too) and the cross-posted replies so for now, for my sanity, I've just silenced the domain in total.

I was perusing on-line headlines this morning and did a double-take on what I thought said
BOOBS HAMPER US TROOPS IN SEARCH FOR MISSING GIS
and of course when I looked closer it was "bombs" instead (unfortunately) but such is the frame of mind you've got me in these days. :-D

They've been talking about old Macintosh computers and old software. Along came a post with a subject line that looked to me like "16 yo titles" and I thought it was about old software titles.
Turns out the eejut who wrote it doesn't even know how to spell "titties." It figures.

How many concealed faces do you see?
For that matter, there were Muslim societies in the Middle East where (until late in the 19th century) it was normal for women in public to veil their heads and expose their breasts at the same time. Can't recall where, but as you might expect Western artists found them an irresistible subject.

Those photos were all from Iran? Not being a traveled person at all, this was a real eye-opener for me. Extraordinarily beautiful images. I mean, I knew all the women weren't covered up to their eyebrows. I just didn't realize the landscape was so diverse.

The landscape ranges from Switzerland to Mars. I should been there at the moment, maybe watching flocks of flamingos on Lake Urumiyeh southwest of Tabriz, but things went wrong and I'm going to a funeral in England instead.
We had this fantasy of taking Splodge with us so he could rediscover his roots. Unlike many geographical names for cat breeds, Persians really do come from Persia. His fur looked totally impractical until I saw him in the snow at night once - those black and white markings completely disguised his shape so he looked like a pile of rocks. In the mountains of northern or western Iran he could have been a very effective hunter.

But *hey*, wait a minute - I used to be a singer-songwriter! Be nice to us. :)
