This came from the Aby group and I found it quite touching as well as
informative, and you can see some pics outside of Yahoo.

Hello everyone

I've been meaning and meaning to get in touch and give everyone an update on
Mars, whom we adopted as "Drie" through this list 2 and a half years ago. He
was in a Boston animal shelter, and we flew from Toronto to Boston, and
imported him back into Canada with us.

He was suspected at the time of having early kidney disease. Two vets have
ruled that out, and he is as healthy and happy as can be. During the first
year we had him, he had a stubborn ear infection. Both of our vets (one
conventional, and one both naturopathic and conventional) had said he had
good dental health, but when the ear infection wouldn't clear up and was
affecting his health more and more negatively, he was x-rayed, and it was
discovered that there was an infection at the ROOT of a tooth that could not
be seen with a normal exam. The tooth was removed, and the infection
vanished.

He is now about 10 years old, and you'd think he was a kitten. He plays and
snuggles and romps around and is just generally a happy kitty. We adopted
him as a companion for a widowed egyptian mau named Cosmos, but sadly, she
died about six months after we adopted Mars (she had failures of just about
every system, poor thing), and Mars was our sole pet for a while. Then we
adopted a dog, and two other cats, and moved to a farm, and well, oh my,
Mars has brothers and sisters now! Rather protective of his space at first,
he's now become good buddies with everyone. He is beloved by every person
who meets him.

We recently did a photo shoot of him and our dog, Reuben. My partner, Liam,
has put them up on his website. You can see Mars at:

There are four pics at the top of each page, and then a lot more under the
ads at mid-page.

I want to thank the group for leading us to this incredible little friend,
and for the work you do for all the Abys. Mars is forever a part of our
hearts.
