This was posted on rpch+b, so some of you have already seen it. When I
sent the link to a friend of mine, she replied, "The Turtlenator!"

That's the one Theresa posted that I couldn't see.  That's one determined
turtle!  And yes, it's zipping right along!  Poor kitty!

I like the soundtrack on that one.

Here's another cute clip - no cat, but an adorable turtle (I love turtles):

Well no wonder!  The turtle wanted to *eat*  the tomato :)  Of course cherry
tomatoes are roly poly things, aren't they?  I see he finally got his snack.
Too cute!

I've never had a turtle, so I didn't realize how much they interacted
with other animals. There's another video of a turtle and cat, where
the turtle keeps trying to get the cat's attention. It keeps going up to
the cat, raising itself on its hind legs, and stretching out its neck,
as though going, "Yoo hoo! Talk to me!" The cat, meanwhile, is far more
interested in something off-camera, and completely ignores the turtle,
only occasionally brushing it away as a minor annoyance. I looked for it
today on youtube, but couldn't find it.

But the main thing I noticed, in both videos, is that the turtles seem
very aware of the other animals in their environment and are trying hard
to interact with them. Just something cool I didn't know about them, never
having had one.

I've seen many cats messing with turtles in my time.  They often seem
to think it's some kind of weird moving rock. ;)  But before those two
clips, I had never seen a turtle mess with a cat.

I've never seen a turtle *or* a cottontail so aggressive. Those are
either just maverick,
bad*ss critters, or they must be moms protecting their babies.
Especially the bunny.
I especially loved it at the end, when the snake had fled up the tree,
and the bunny
seemed so say, "And don't come back!"

Woops, I was redundant. I just saw your post in the other thread,
Theresa. That's really
interesting about bunnies! I don't know a whole lot about rabbits,
just watch the
ones that come into the back yard to eat what spills from the bird
feeders. From
my observation I thought  their primary defense is being statue
impersonators when they
hear a weird noise.

Bunnies have very sharp teeth, and can bite very hard!  They can be
ferocious when they want to be!  I have watched the ones that live in/near
our back yard (they love to come and munch on the goodies (we have lots of
clover, wild violets, dandelions & other weeds in the yard - we were going
to use the broadleaf weed killer on them, but decided not to when we saw the
buns happily munching away on them), and seem acclimated to both us and our
ancient, half-blind, half-deaf dog) - one boy bunny (I could see his dangly
bits) actually *chased* a rival away from his girlfriend.  The girlfriend
has a broken rear leg, and we thought about trying to catch her and have it
set - but we never heard back from the wildlife people about it (this was
last year) and she gets around nicely on three - she's a fast li'l lady.  It
looks as though it set itself, but not in the right configuration.  I think
they successfully had a couple of little ones as we've seen some smaller
bun-buns near them in during their evening forage.

And yes, we buy rabbit pellets and scatter them throughout the yard.  We
want healthy buns!

Awww..that's so cute about the jealous boyfriend-bunny. Our backyard
bunnies
originate from a huge brush pile out in the back field. They live
there. It's quite
an eyesore, and is the product of some trees that blew down in a storm
that we
cleaned up last year. We planned all along to burn the brush pile as
soon as
things greened up. Now we can't :-(

Ever notice how rodents and lagomorphs are really BIG back there?
They look like they're borrowing someone else's equipment. :P

The hamsters I had as a kid always had huge boy bits. Amazingly, they had
the ability to "tuck" them in when they felt threatened.....  A feature some
human males wish they had ;)

Yes!! Thanks for finding it. That turtle wants the cat's attention
so much, but the cat is riveted on whatever's happening outside the
video frame. (At one point, the turtle is also watching the external
goings-on - what can it be?) It's just so cute the way the turtle
tries to climb onto the front of the kitty (who is lying down), with
its front legs up on kitty's chest and its neck craned as far as it
can go!

Apparently you posted this video earlier, but somehow I missed it, so
I didn't know it had already been posted.

Isn't that kitty gorgeous, though? (I mean the orange kitty. The
white one is cute, but I like cats with normal heads better. :))
