I read the link, and for the life of me, I could find *no* reference
to eating off Melmac dinnerware.
I've followed the story semi-closely, and have never heard that old
dinnerware even mentioned.
Where did you come up with that?
Heard it on the cooking newsgroup. A woman named JanetB declared melamine
dinnerware was infected and harmful to humans. This news story insinuated
as much.

Lucky my mother never knew that! She bought melamine
dinnerware almost as soon as it came out, and used it daily
until she gave up housekeeping and moved to a "senior"
residence at age 90+ - she left this life at 102.

I didn't get that insinuation from the story myself. I think it would
be a real stretch
to make a connection between breathing or consuming ground melamine
particles
and eating off the plates. Like Dan said, Eating dinner off melamine
is okay; eating
melamine *as* dinner isn't.
