Last year aboutthis time I posted that Two Rivers junction had burned
down but the owners animals were safe.  Turns out that wasn't accurate.
Today as I biked by I thought I saw Rafter, an older black cat, and
wheeled in, but it wasn't to be.  The owner was there and told me that
Rafter had been lost;  a neighbor had rushed into the store and brought
out two cats and a dog, but left the door open for any others to
escape.  Rafter (named because when he first turned up he spent most of
the time in the basement rafters) ran back in and the flames were high
enough noone could go back in.  Seems his buddy, Spook, was still inside
and when they could go check the ruins they found Spook and Rafter lying
together in the basement.  I love healthy happy older cats and Rafter
was that, always happy to get scrithes from me when I stopped by.  I'll
miss him, Norm

Poor babies. :(

At the same time, it's amazing to read stories like this, that show
intense love and loyalty between animals. And they say cats aren't
social!

Heartbreaking.  Purrs for them at the RB, and for everyone who loved
them.

Between Rafter and Incredible Journey on the tube yesterday it was a
weepy afternoon for me.

No greater love than this, to give up one's life for a friend. I'm losing my
grip on my mascara now...God bless those little angels, and a special pur for
them to be happy together over the Bridge.

Blessed be,
Baha

What a touching story.  My heart breaks for the animals, but swells for a
friendship that transends all.
