Bill Stock - 01 Nov 2004 15:37 GMT Does anyone know if Whiskas has changed their Original Recipe formula? I know it's not the best, but it's the only dry food our young cat will eat. However, she won't touch the new bag. Perhaps it's just a bad batch, although the older cat is still stealing food out fo the young ones bowl.

Did you check the expiration date? Perhaps it is stale. MLB

Called the helpful Whiskas folks, just in case it was a bad batch. They sent coupons for another bag. Smokey was not crazy about the new bag either (different batch code), but she is eating some of it. She never was much of a dry food cat, Whiskas was the only dry she would eat (hoover). Either there is a slight change in the food or she is telling us she's an all meat girl now. She's eating more meat now, so it's definitely not her apetite.

I had that happen once with the MeowMix I buy for the neighborhood kitties. I keep it in a rubbermaid container, and when I poured the big bag in the container there was mold all along one side. I didn't have any trouble exchanging the bag where I bought it, but when they checked they found a couple other bags with water stains. No telling if the spoilage happened at that store, in shipment, back at the factory, or wherever.

> That's interesting, but I see you're in Oz, so it would have to be a global change. The Whiska's folks denied any changes, but who knows? Perhaps they're putting less 'Roo in the mix. :)
Jean Hobbs - 14 Nov 2004 12:27 GMT How did you know I was from OZ, can you tell from the addy if so I'd like to know how, as I often wonder when I post to someone I dont know, where they live, as youcan guess I'm not very good at this, cause I had a late start *very late* Jean.P.

I'm certainly no internet baby either, but I only lost 20 years or so.
As 'Hodge' pointed out, it easy to tell where you're from based on your country extension, 'au'. But a lot of people don't post from their home country for any number of reasons. It's also possible to mangle your email address to foil the spammers. You can find out where the poster's news server is located by doing a 'WHOIS' on their domain name, Rogers.com in my case. There are a number of these services around, if you type 'whois lookup' in google you'll get a list. If you go to 'whois.net' and type in 'rogers.com' you'll find my news server is located in Markham Canada.
Smokey's chomping away on her dry food again, both new bags. Whatever the change in taste/smell she's adjusted.
