A wildfire, ignited on April 16th when a fallen tree struck a live
power line in south Georgia, is about 30 miles south of Alma, GA where
Krista, Dave and their kitties live.  I've been keeping an eye on its
progress and I don't think that they have been in any danger from the
fire, but I would imagine they are about tired of breathing smoke.
More than 135 square miles, 87,000 acres of forest and Okefenokee
Swamp land has burned. It looks like the wind is shifting in the next
24 hours and will blow smoke toward Krista's area.  Hopefully we can
get some rain soon that will help firefighters battle this fire.

Lots of purrs on the way for Krista and family. Reminds me I need to
write her an e-mail.

The fire has been burning since *April 16*? Wow!

Purrs for everyone in the area.

Has anyone heard from them? I hope they are all right.

Thanks, Julie.  The weather prophets say 50% chance of rain Sunday, so
it's working!
Please keep them coming.  Entirely aside from the fire, we are having
a *serious*
drought.  And indeed, we are sick of the smoke, though the fire itself
isn't near us.

Aside from the sheer suckage of all the smoke spewing into the
atmosphere,
and however bad the fire may be for any individual people and/or
animals,
it is actually beneficial for the swamp to burn once in a while, so
it's not entirely
a bad thing.  There is a limit, though, and I read that if the weather
doesn't turn,
it's expected to burn for another month.  Sheesh.

I've been lurking when I can, and we send purrs to the Mothership for
distribution every day.  And we now have even more kitties sending out
those
purrs!  Must do an intro soon.
