Okay, I'm apparently clueless and behind on new Internet things -- but
what exactly *is* a blog? From what I've heard, it just sounds like a
daily journal or something. Is that in the ballpark, or am I way off
base?

Thot I'd PSed that but I did it in an eMail, heh. Yes, that was the
initial idea behind blogs but they've become tres chic WRT politics.

No, that's about right! An online form of a journal.
Mine is at http://catdude.livejournal.com :)

Precisely! What you probably want to know also is where the name
came from. It's a contraction of "weB LOG". The first time I heard
the term, I had no idea what it was at all. Did a search on "blog"
and found thousands of entries but only one explanations of the name.
I still think it was just dumb luck that I found out the origin.
