Here I am all worried about Cosmo, and it's Trill who scares the #$%^
out of me.
I woke up a few days ago, and Trill was in the litterbox. He was in
there quite awhile, and then got out. While I went to the bathroom, he
tried another litterbox, and then another.
Oh, damn! I've seen it too many times. He had a urinary blockage.
A friend ran me and Trill to the vet's, and sure enough, the vet talked
to Trill and said "Your mommy knows, doesn't she?" and nodded his head
to indicate Trill was, indeed, blocked.
Luckily, it was caught probably pretty early. The vet even let me come
back with he and the vet tech to watch them unblock him. They were
hoping they could do it without giving him a sedative, but I probably
should have told them "Trill? Hahahahahahaha." Poor guy looked so
pathetic after he got a sedative, but they got him catheterized, and he
had to stay overnight. He seems to be fine now, but now I have to find
him a urinary diet, or buy c/d from the vet.
Picking him up was rather a weird adventure. I had to take cabs this
time. The first guy was really nice, and shut off the meter early, and
wouldn't even take a tip! The guy on the way back was the complete
opposite. The first thing he said looking at my carrier was "Put THAT
on the floor". Grrrrrrrrr. I don't know what country he was from, but
I'm betting it's one where cats are not particularly loved. He tried
to tell me the cab company can't transport animals since 2 years ago
(right - all the times I've called and told them flat-out I'm
transporting a cat were wrong. Geez.}. He kept trying to shush Trill,
too. It's okay, though. Trill didn't like him either, and sweetly let
him know by peeing in the carrier. <Big Evil Grin>

Maybe try Purina ONE Urinary Tract Formula kibble. It was *not* affected by
the recall. I've had to buy it in a pinch when Persia's vet was briefly out
of her x/d formula and she likes it.

LOL Good for Trill! That second cab driver was obviously an a.s. He makes
a living driving a cab yet has the nerve to bitch at/about his customers?
Wouldn't he have been just thrilled if you said, "Stop the cab right here;
I'll get another one" (or better yet, if you'd never gotten in at all when
he made his first comment)? Hey buddy, lose a fare, lose money. No skin
off my nose; it's your livelihood, not mine.
Best wishes purrs for the first cabbie who was obviously a cat lover :)

I fed Fin the Nutro-Max brand of dry kibble after his blockage. (He
would only eat dry kibble). It worked beautifully for him and
he never got blocked again.
Good for Trill, letting that cab driver know what he thought.
