Purrayers for a foundling ittybitty...

A friend who lives in Tampa heard scratchings and scrabblings in the
roof at work... and when they pulled off a ceiling panel to
investigate they caught sight of a black cat fleeing the scene very
fast, and out fell a teensy-tiny ittybitty kitty (luckily she caught
it!) She thinks its only about ten days old, and she's going to try
and hand-rear it but because of how young it is you know how hard THAT
is! Can we have purrayers for little Boq to thrive so he can become
cat #5 in her household?

Lots of purrs for rearing success.

Maybe she could find the black momma cat?  That would be my first choice;
catch the momma and reunite the bitty.  Of course, I'd take both of them if
I had my druthers, then make sure momma cat got spayed later.

Momma kitty legged it as fast as she could.

Okay.  Poor bitty.  Oh, and my purrs were implied, of course :)

Sometimes ferals have kittens stashed in more than one nest.   MLB

My aunt and uncle got a couple of kittens the very same way.
Inspected a noise in a drop ceiling, and Rocco and Ace fell out on
them.

Big Purrs coming for  a successful outcome for the wee one! I do agree
that trying to find the mother cat is a good idea;  There is no better
creature for raising their kittens than the mother cat.  Also
definitely agree about trying to spay Momma if and when she can be
located.

Awww. Lots of purrs for the  ittybitty. It's lucky that kittens are
amazingly
resilient. I raised a litter of 4 once that still had their umbilical
cords. They're
pretty easy to raise, just lots of TLC and patience. I'm so glad your
friend
is giving the kitten a chance. Was the mom too wild to catch?

Purrs for the bitty.  I must admit I'm a bitty jealous-- having raised
Jona from day 3 of her life!  (Jona is saying, "No way, Meowmie, no
more bitties-- I'm the BABY here.)

Purrs for the little one.  I have reared tiny mammals successfully, so may I
offer a little advice?
Firstly, they need to suckle, so don't feed from a dropper.  Find a teat
bottle to suit.
Secondly, do *not* feed to appetite.  Take the teat away after a few minutes
and feed again in a couple of hours the same.  They can suckle every few
minutes on the mother, but after a few hours they are so hungry that their
stomachs will swell if allowed to suck to appetite and this is bad news,
they will die if you let them do this.
Keep the bottle and teat as clean as for a human baby.
Use wet cotton wool to wipe the baby's genitalia to allow it to pee and poo
after each feed.

Purrs for the Oliver Twistlet. May he always have more of everything, most of
all love and life.

Blessed be,
Baha

Loving purrs for the little bitty.  A friend of mine bottle feeds
kittens
pretty regularly (she's retired).  Here are a few websites with info
that might be helpful.

just not THAT little. :)
