and now banned at my house.   Ginger has always loved catnip rolling around
in it being happy and stuff.  Max it just never did anything for him, till
today.  I got a free sample in the mail and gave him some to see if he'd
like it.  He pawed in it rolled around in it and the next thing i know he
and his sister are kicking each others butts over it.  Not the reaction I
expected.  haha they act like a couple of addicts argueing over their fix!
Tails swishing growling teeth snarled.  Isn't catnip supposed to make them
happy????? Has anyone ever seen a reaction like this before??

We used to have one that got aggressive over nip. We just didn't use it
much.

Frank is a mean drunk. He loves catnip but he gets aggressive and
attacks Nikki pretty viciously when he's had a hit of 'nip, so I don't
give them any very often.

A couple of mine are possessive, *very* possessive, about *their*
catnip.  I just put down more piles than there are aggressively
possessive cats around at the time.

Stosh and Roxie are particularly possessive about their kittyweed, and we make
sure that all the kids get their doses in close to equal portions, and not too
close to one another. They'll exchange vulgarities over their stuff. But catnip
seems to make Roxie and Odessa even more meditative, while it makes Stosh and
Brandy rowdy. They'll go nuts and wrestle all over the house. They look like a
whirlwind and make noise like you wouldn't believe, and not all of it printable.
Those two, my Juvies, are a perfect example of party-hearty, frat-brat attitude;
Roxie and Odessa are very clearly the Beatles in their Maharishi phase.

Blessed be,

Soncek became very aggressive and bit me really hard, so I stopped buying
it.

We always warn each other when we give the cats fresh nip so we don't
accidentally try to play with the stoned cat.

It hasn't done anything at all for my two up to now.  I bought some "catnip
drops" today, which are like dry food, in a very small bag.  I gave
Boyfriend about 20 with his dinner, he ate everything , then laid by the
fire and blinked slowly at me, like mellow.  But he's often like that, so I
don't know.

Whilst bemoaning the lack of effect of nip on my cats last week, my friend
told me that he knew someone whose cat leapt into the air as if it had been
shot and swore and snarled at his very first sniff of it.  They didn't get
it again either.

Heh heh.  Sometimes it does seem to give Stinky a little extra
swagger. ;)

Nocturne uses medicinally :)

She has stress and the only ways to relieve it are 1. nip, 2. exhuming
litterboxes or 3. spilling Smokey's entrails across the rug.  2 and 3
are messier and more disgusting by far.

It's odd that nip makes some of your cats aggressive, whereas for Nox,
it is the only thing that mellows her out and actually makes her MORE
roly-poly, tolerant, and friendly.

The bitties devour it, eating it, gulping it down, but other than
craving the taste, show little response.

Well, *nothing* short of some electric voltage, would make Stinky
exactly *aggressive.*  ;)

Jasper loves it, however it comes.  I ended up planting some in a
hanging basket by the front door, so it had a chance to grow before
being mown down to the roots.

Carrie doesn't seem interested in the crushed leaves - but has been
known to bite my fingers when I've crushed catnip on them.

Persia has never reacted to catnip, but then I've never given her the stuff
to roll around in.  Just catnip-filled toys.  She'll show some interest but
I think it's mostly because it's a new toy, not the catnip.
