Mayhem, being the fluffiest one of my three, has a long fluffy tail.
And she's VERY particular about it.  She'll groom it, display it for
all to see, and if it gets out of line, she beats the snot out of it.
If i'm petting her and my hand pets her tail, she turns around
suddenly and gives me a disapproving MEOW.  "NOT THE TAIL!!"

Oh yes she loves her tail

She reminded me of how much, when she settled on my chest this
morning, facing the other way.  Trying to sleep with a fluffy tail
occasionally smacking your face isn't a great way to sleep.

Then I was on the phone with my dad and chatting away and walking
around.

Suddenly my foot comes down and i hear this "YEOW!!!"

I scream and jump up and see Mayhem running out of the room at full
speed.

I then had to explain to my dad what had happened and how i stepped on
her beautiful tail.

"Is it THAT important?" he asked.

Oh yes, I told him.  And to show how sorry i was, i fed the kitties an
hour early.

I then scritched Mayhem behind her ears and she nipped my hand, but it
seemed like she forgave me.

I'll give her extra scritches tonight.

I know the feeling. =o) Nina is also very particular about HER tail.
And very proud of it, also. And she always looks very hurt if I step
on it by mistake. I'm sure Mayhem will forgive you if she hasn't
already.  It's hard to stay mad with the person who feeds you!

Yesterday I was getting something from the top of the frdige when I
heard this loud "MEOW" and felt something soft underfoot. I stepped on
Rusty, on his paw I think. He ran away and won't come near me. I
apologized and eventually he forgave me.
Rusty is a very quiet cat and you seldom hear a meow out of him. But
that MEOW yesteraday was more than enough to make me jump.

I must say in all the 12 years that I have Rusty, I don't think I
stepped on him more than once or twice.
