Who doesn't know this piece above what I think is the 39th parallel, and in
the northern US cities just below it? I'm busting my onions looking for an
mp3 of the old theme; not the newer rock-sounding one sanctioned by Molson
(have it) but the old one that sounds like big band or jazz, that Louie says
is the old theme from when HNIC was a radio broadcast. I have a very vague
memory of that version being used on TV as well, long before it became a rock
number. Any ideas where to find an mp3?
I think there are some butt-kicking theme pieces that never lose their flavor:
Barney Miller, Hawaii Five-O, and Hockey Night in Canada are three of them;
and we find that our couch potatoes (Stosh, Brandy and Sabrina) have
developed a taste for hockey gbecause when that music comes on, they all
three come and cuddle.
Blessed be,
Baha

Don't know where to get the mp3 but I like it!
Who are you cheering for?
We are, of course, cheering on the Flames against Detroit!

Start here http://www.hockeytheme.com/
There's a CD ($5) and a link to the ringtone for your cell phone. Didn't
look further to see if they had the mp3, but that should get you started
in the right direction.

Thanks, I will check this out. I think what I downloaded is the ringtone but
is also an mp3 for the newer theme, but I like it nonetheless. The Hockey
Night in Canada music has been a heluva earworm lately; but then, I live just
a spit away from the border. It is a common joke that Buffalo is a suburb of
Toronto and so we tend to have a bit of Canada in our collective DNA.
