Well, my requirements for a new cat were a little girl with big ears and a
long tail....

I always quit there cause it would get pretty obvious all I really want in
Rosie back and I know I can't have that.

But today we went to the PetCo's and Petsmarts and SPCA in Sacramento and
came home with a little girl.  She has very big ears and a pretty long tail.
She is a calico, about 18 months old.  She was found abandoned or wild, and
pregnant.  She's raised her kittens and been spayed and all the shots and
stuff.  Still no name.  She seems brave enough and affectionate enough and
we will have to wait to really get acquainted before she gets a name.

Will go to bed tonight and dream of little calico girl names.

That sentence of course immediately brings to mind (to me) the song
'Cinnamon Girl' - hmmm, good name for a calico?

It's always tough to let one go, and it's hard to pick out a new one
without thinking of your old friend.  I'm sure you'll do it though,
you'll take this kitty on her own terms and love her for herself.

Our second day together.  Her name will be Molly, for all the good it does.
She doesn't feel the need to have a name at this point in her life.

She is fast and funny.  Has dug out cat toys we didn't even know we had.
Hard to play with though as she catches and kills prey.  She does like bed
mice.  She bites and wrestles appropriately.  As in she hasn't yet drawn
blood.

She isn't impressed by the dog.  And it will be worse when she learns the
dog is blind.  And she isn't all that impressed by the older cat either.
Says she can hide in smaller places than he can fit into.  Also said she
might play with him, provided he quite hissing.  Jake has only hissed
though.  He's let is know he is jealous and not happy but made no effort to
go after her either.

She likes scritches and head buts,  and rubs against ankles.  But she is
still acting like she is afraid she might do something wrong.  Heaven help
us when she learns just how much she can get away with around here.

We are still waiting to she if she wants any lap time.  But it is way to
early to tell.  First she is checking out every inch of the house.  She even
tried to go up the chimney yesterday.  Managed to get up on top of the
damper, and jumped down covered with soot.  Fortunately the new firescreen
with glass doors was already bought and we installed it last night.

Pictures in a few days.

She's probably thinking-- "hmmm not pregnant anymore-- WOW, I can go
REAL fast!!!!!!!!!"  ;)

Sounds like she's going to make up for lost hoolikitten time.   Scared
kittys don't want to play and investigate--  it's GREAT that she's
primarily unafraid, and wants to play. ;)

I expect that is exactly what she is thinking.  I'm sure she has had a hard
several months and is thrilled to get back to the business of being a kitten
rather than raising some.

We did have am "incident" today that was scary but reassuring.  I let Molly
out of her room to investigate not realizing Charlie had the patio door open
so Jake could come in.  Molly went out and headed out the door.  Charlie
yelled for me, I went out afraid she might be hard to retrieve.  She took a
look around, discovered she was "out" and went back in just as fast as her
paws would carry her.  She has NO desire to escape.

Congratulations on your new cat. I adopted 2 cats from a shelter and it took
they time to learn that thay could be themselves and not get in trouble for
every little thing.

Can't wait! It sounds as if she's settling in fine. Purrs that Jake
stops hissing and that Molly doesn't terrorize the d*g too much.
