This group is awesome in helping me with Rob. He cannot read right now, so
I read to him. He really loves the stories I pick up from this group. I
try to collect the funny, unusual, and inspiring posts. Sometimes I'll just
say, something like "well Minke Poo had his birthday this week", and Rob
will tell me that he's pleased to hear that.
Some of you have said that you feel helpless with what we're going through
and wish you could do more. Well, keep those stories coming. Not only does
Rob love them, but they help me keep my spirits up too. Thank you all.
BTW Victor, Rob laughed and said that Tom has his sympathy with dealing with
Basho's upside downy barf.

Perhaps it will amuse Rob to hear how Nina deals with straws. Straws
are tricky you know. Just packed with greeblings. They can cause all
KINDS of problems if they're not severely dealt with and made to toe
the line. Luckily, I never have to worry about straw greeblings with
Nina around. If I'm sitting watching TV in the livingroom, I can often
see her on my bed, dashing around to pounce and retreat, and
occasionally bunny kick and gnaw the crap out of a green plastic
drinking straw from Starbucks. Then suddenly, she'll drop it and go
wash her paws on another part of the bed. I guess Mr. Straw will then
say something incredibly rude to her, which necessitates a whole other
session of discipline with teeth and claws. Then she'll pick up the
straw, trot into the livingroom, and repeat the whole process.
Francesca's favorite toy is a fishing pole style with a leather tassel
on the end. BOTH girls love this toy, but Francesca is quite balletic
in her pursuit of it. She particularly likes it when I drag the tassel
over the bed for her to chase and pounce on.
Nina also has a very particular idea of proper flower arranging which
does not necessarily cadge with my own. To me, flowers in a water-
filled vase on the table = flowers properly arranged. Nina, when
practicing her Kitty Ikebana, feels that the proper look is "water-
filled vase with one or two flowers in it, with the other flowers
lying on the table and the floor." She and I have had numerous
'discussions' about this. I pick up all the flowers, put them back in
the vase, and when my back is turned, she takes them all back out,
again. This process is repeated until the poor flowers are too wilted
and stressed to look good anywhere anymore and end up in the trash
can.
Courage!

Dante is a huge straw fan. He just likes to transfer them around the
house. I often wake up with three or four of them in bed with me.

Soncek used to love playing with mousies, but seems to have lost the
interest in them lately. So (I got the idea from rpca of course) I gave
him first one straw and he really liked to play with it. He is not
interested in straws if I leave them around, I have to bat it in front
of him. He has trained me well ;)
We think of Rob and you often and we always send loads of purrs and hugs,

You will both enjoy the true animal stories from this website, and you
can subscribe (free) for a new story each week by email. They're always
short and either touching or funny. They published my little story in
one of their books!

A story for Rob from Bonnie. Peeing in the Sink
I am a cat with bad habits at least that is what my slaves tell me. I
love peeing in the sink. I know, it is a harmless pastime but it drives
them wild. There is nothing nicer than a damp dishcloth to pee on. What
do thy do? They rush off and soak it in something called Janola or worse
toss it in the rubbish bin. Such waste.
Lately they have acquired a large plastic cover for the sink, - ingratitude.
I am getting a complex. But last night I came up with the perfect
solution. I peed on top of the plastic cover - brilliant!! The small
turned up ledge around the bottom of the plastic cover means it is a
ready-made recepticle for run-off pee. Were they grateful for my
helpfulness - not a bit of it. When the woman whipped the plastic cover
off the sink and turned it right way up can I help it if the pee was
splashed all over the kitchen.
This morning I heard them talking - it seems I am to be locked out of the
kitchen. Such mean behaviour. But I have been looking around - do you
know how many places a cat can pee in? I think not. I have already had a
look at several plug holes, i.e. bath, basin, washhouse tub etc. At a
pinch I can even try something they call the 'toilet'.
I am sure I can train them in this delicate matter. And in case you get
the wrong idea I am really the cleanest of cats.
Love,
Bonnie

I wish I had more stories to tell Rob too, and I'm glad that he's so
lucid now and enjoying life.

Me too. Just to let you know I am thinking of both of you and trying
to stay in touch (Dave's network attempts are causing mass frustration
- I am now starting to imagine a magazine review of any sort of
computer stuff (Today I got a Belkin hub that according to the box
"installs in 3 minutes") based on the language used ie "It took 3
hours and 100 f words, 30 c words etc etc- hey Dave could do that!
Suffice to say that over Easter weekend if we had a swear box I could
have paid my overdraft off with his contributions!) but at the moment
I'm using this odd situation whereby I put the dongle thingy that came
with my laptop into a USB port on my PC and I can get online! Not sure
whose account I am using but I limit myself to coming here and have
virus protection so I hope I'm not doing any harm

Tak
==========================================
You could tell them about getting told off by Spicey. Tak had a Flat
screened monitor he wanted me to try. Spicey chewed him out (verbally) for
daring to enter her domain.
She's been kind of "Spicey" lately. She's been "helping" my afternoon aide
Cindy with my pills. Afterall moving them to the floor "helps". Luckily
Cindy is more amused then frustrated. She regurly (sp?) gives her treats.

There's not all that much to tell, except that apparently, in Spicey's
language, my name is "Raaaauuuuuu!" :) I had been going over Suz's
place occasionally to help with some computer peripherals, and Spicey
is very protective of her meowmie.
