Scary monster

Miranda here. I have to warn all cats, because who knows when your
hoomins decide to bing in one of these scary monsters into your houses?

OK, starting from the beginning, our hoomin went out yesterday, and when
she came back, she brought in this harmless-looking thing, like a green
cylinder. She placed it in the bathroom, and Caliban and me went to
check it out. Meowmie stood beside us as we checked it out, and I did
notice her foot going towards the thing, but I could never have prepared
for what happened next!

Suddenly the harmless-looking thing OPENED ITS BIG MOUTH ON TOP and
SNAPPED AT ME!!! I almost had a heart attack! I never even realised it
had a MOUTH ON TOP!!! Caliban ran away, like the wuss he is, but I had
to stay and investigate, though I knew now to keep a safe distance from
the monster. The hoomin rolling on the floor laughing didn't help any.
But I have that monster's number now, and I'm staying well clear of it!
It seems that it only snaps at cats very occasionally.

Hoomin note: in case you didn't figure it out, I bought a little pedal
bin for my bathroom. When Miranda was sniffing it, I stepped on the
pedal, and she jumped one metre up and two to the side. She is very wary
of the 'monster' now. I know, I know, I'm a mean Meowmie.

That up-and-sideways jump alone was worth every cent (or Kroner or whatever
you guys spend over there) that it cost. Gah, I wish I could do that!

Blubber? You must have us confused with inuits. :P

It's a mystery, isn't it? We're an ancient shamanic culture, we are. ;)

That's true. I don't understand why. Our lowest denomination before the
switch was 10 penni, which is slightly less than 2 cents. I seem to
remember some feeble explanation about too many small coins.

Am I right in thinking the 1 and 2 cent coins can be used in multiples of 5
cents?

That's really strange. We have 1 and 2 cent coins in Slovenia.

As does the other 12 eurozone countries, I believe it's only Finland that
doesn't use them though they do have a design for them.

Din you know that Finland mints coins for other countries including Slovenia
and Greece.

Yes, it was published widely that the euro coins we were going to get in
the beginning of this year were minted in Finland.

Maybe it was published just in the Slovenian newspapers and the euro

I bought a red one of those for Rob's room yesterday.  I never thought to
give the cats a cheep thrill with it.  I'll have to try that now.

You're safe Marina.  They're so used to me pulling fast ones on them that
they just looked at the can when I tried this on them.  Tanada slashed at my
leg as I was blocking her entrance to the food dish.  The rest seemed to
have learned from the kids how to roll their eyes and give me that "yeah,
right Mom.  I'm so scared." look.  I think I'm insulted.

They're obviously too busy taking care of Rob to get all excited about a
snapping monster.

LEMME AT IT I WILL BEET IT UP.
LUV DANTE

Like you beat up the paper shredder, tough guy?
Purrs, Stinky

Dante is fascinated by the paper shredder.  Stinky is sublimely
indifferent to most machinery, except the printer- he loves to see the
paper come out.  But the noisy things-- like the vacuum cleaner--
that bother most cats don't phase him.
When the paper shredder goes on, Dante charges from wherever he's
been, and circles round it.  When it stops shredding, he comes in, and
gives it a SWAT.  Then he heads for the hills. ;)

LOL! Caliban hot-footed it out of the bathroom immediately after the
'monster' snapped at him.

I read an article recently about how dangerous paper shredders can be to
animals and children.   To be on the safe side, my is unplugged when not
in use.  MLB

Rita did that to my nebulizer, the first time I used it. She tried to
swat it off
the table so she could subdue the noisy little monster. However, after
that
first time, she left it alone.

So far she's not interested in my paper shredder.

It'll be interesting to see what she does with the brand-new cpap
machine
that I'm getting next week.  Sheesh.  I feel bionic.  I'll be hooked
up to
machines for almost half the day now.
'Better living through chemistry' is changing to 'better living
through machinery'.

Ya know, I don't have one now but when I did wear a bi-pap for a
couple years the critters adjusted to it considerably faster than my
dh.LOL  After they've seen it all taken apart (drawn and quartered),
cleaned, and drying a couple times it loses much of it's menace.
Although my Calvin (rb) always maintained it was going to rise up
against us all one day. :)

I wanted one where the cats would not be able to dig out the contents.
Q-tips, for example. Not naming names but glaring at a bluish grey cat.

Hmmmm....I need a little pedal bin for my bathroom, in fact I was looking at
them on Saturday and thinking that would be nice (I was also considering
buying one of those freestanding toilet roll holders but thought it might get
in the way of Dave's chair -at the moment- I now wish I had since when I get
home tonight my first job apparently will be to retrieve a WHOLE toilet roll
Dunzi has kicked down the toilet!)

Marina, you may have started a fashion for mean Meowmie's to get their own
back!
