It's thundering. BOOM! Lightning. CRACK! Pouring down rain. And Persia
isn't hiding in the closet! What suddenly turned my timid girl brave?
Inquiring minds want to know ;)

If my gray girlcat didn't hide during a storm, I'd be asking the same
question! Baby Eyes is terrified of thunder and lightning. I think it's
because when she was an IBK she lived with some dogs who were like that.
Maybe they can eventually get over early impressions, and Persia has done
so.

You may well be right! It's been six years since she's been on the big OUT
(except for that one time she ran outside and I lost her for 24 hours). She
was probably used to hiding under bushes and stuff but didn't like the sound
of storms because it meant getting all wet and hiding under bushes. Today
she doesn't seem to care if it's thundering and raining. She knows she has
secure haven here and her forever home.

Spooky got over his early fear of the vacuum cleaner monster. He
barely looks up from his place on the bed when I vacuum the bedroom.
I think most of my cats largely ignore thunder when they are inside,
and sometimes when they are outside - in the latter case, they tend to
come in wet and rub themselves all over me, to walk on as much
furniture as possible while their feet are still muddy, and to shake
off excess water onto the computer monitors.

Maybe she's feeling braver these days.
I know that during thunderstorms, I can be sure to find Rita in the
window,
trying to catch a lightning bolt. She's like a little kid. 'LOOKIT
THAT Mommy!'
'Did you see THAT ONE?' as she looks back to me to see if I'm
watching.
I've never met a more fearless cat.

lol!
Hmmmm, maybe she decided thunderstorms were a figment of her
imagination? Or maybe she's been listening to way too much heavy metal
and punk rock lately, so her hearing is temporarily disabled. Or maybe
she thinks she can get a role in a movie if she can act like
thunderstorms ain't nothin'. ;-)

Whose Cosmo is scared of thunderstorms. But Kate appears not to be
afraid of the Giant Cat-Sucking Machine, aka, the vacuum cleaner.

I still have no idea. She went through a tornado not 80 miles away a few
days and she hid. But a few years ago she crouched down when I was in the
shower with a flashlight and a pillow.
She's just snuggling with me more than ever. She's using this as an excuse
to beg for more food, though. She swears she loves the 'Perry Mason' reruns
that are on in the middle of the night and needs more kibble in order to
watch them. Heheh. I'm the one who is sleepless. Persia is next to me
every night and NO! No more kibble!
Even so, I get purrs and a snuggle-bug right next to me. Persia is so soft
and she blinks those big green/gold eyes at me and purrs. Today I was
reading and you know how you hold a book with two hands even if you're
leaning to one side? I was allowing for Persia next to me. She laid her
head on my left hand so I could turn the pages, occasionally rubbing her
face on the side of the book but not really bothering it. She just wanted
my attention. She had it.
Shortly after that she did sit up and start tapping me on my nose and chin.
It's not tapping time!
